    As much as your budget allows. If you make 10,000 a month but 9,000 of that goes to living and business expenses and you are only left with 1,000 then invest the 1,000. But make sure everything else you need is taken care of because investing in seo usually isn't a one time deal. It can take months and months of work depending on how poorly optimized your website is and competition you are trying to out rank and the seo guy could be outsourcing the work to guys in india for a fraction of what you paid him and nothing is helping your rankings. This is all worst case scenarios though you should be fine

    it really depends on your niche and complexity of selected keywords.. SEO will help but it takes long time to start getting leads.. If you are looking for quick leads try Classified Advertising, Forum postings, Google PPC campaigns, Social Media Marketing etc..

    This depends on two factors

    #1 your ranking goals
    #2 the difficulty of the keyword

    My strategy is personally: Go for keywords that are a challenge for me but do not require outside services. If they do require outside services, I prefer services that are very specific in nature. I want to buy a link at a time and observe the results of each link. Obviously, this all requires experience.

    I've said this before on these forums, I can sometimes rank a site on 2-3 links. Most people probably think I'm full of it, but if they saw the links, they would probably want to know how I did that. Answer: time+$$$.

    You have to start it by yourself. You can start this by advertising on social media easily. After getting some money from it you can invest easily. It depends on you how much you want to invest. For No.1 ranking, you have to invest with a good SEO company and you can invest $1000-2000.
