Speed

I suppose this falls under the realm of SEO abstractly, since speed is certainly a factor. Since I switched to WordPress and BlueHost, my website has loaded Very Slow. Like, slower then anything I have made before, and the response I keep getting is 'Reduce Server Response Time' which I really have no control over.

I am going to try to transfer my domain to another service, if that is even possible; can anyone advise me as to a good one?

    In my opinion, you should first find out why does your site response time get too slow by checking in this Google Developers Tool - PageSpeed Insights. It will give you many useful information why your site is in slow response time.

    My site was like you before. But after using this tool, I just step by step find a way to fix it. Hope this will help.

      Oh I always do; isn't it a great tool?!! I managed to get it to 83% on a pc and around 70% on a cell- not great, but better. The message Google always gives me is "Reduce Server Response Time". I think that should be completely on them.

      I have no control over their servers. The best I can do now is pay into something like Cloud flare...

    If the WP theme is bloated & causing pages to load slow then you're wasting your time moving the site to another host.

    Upload a plain HTML webpage with no javascript via FTP & see how fast the HTML page loads on your current host.

    You could also run the Firebug Firefox browser plugin to find bottlenecks when loading a webpage.

    Odds are the WP theme is the problem.

    So far as my experience Bluehost is good company and have good support. Just moving you site to another hosting company may not help you. At first check your sites themes, templates etc by changing them, many times it occurs that the themes are the real culprit.

    Get a VPS from liquid web and you will have a site that is faster than 90% of shared cpanel hosting.

    I never host money sites on shared hosting anymore.

      I've seen some Bluehost accounts, and they were slow. It's one of those big hosts that runs number games, and if your "neighbors" are using excessive resources your site suffers. Some hosts accept requests to transfer to another server, and it doesn't hurt to try. Note that I have no idea about Bluehosts actual hosting platform. Transfer usually helps, but it's possible that nothing happens.

      Hostgator is kind of in the same boat. EIG (Endurance International Group) owns both these brands, and some have alleged that speeds and support have gone downwards since 2012 when they took over.

      VPS is not without problems. The prices are higher, you need to optimize the software running on the server, and you need to constantly manage the server.
