Hi All,

I know this is a massively ambiguous question,
what are the best white hat practices for SEO these days.

I haven't done any seo for about 2 years now and when i was doing it was more on the black hat side.

I've been given a site to manage, the competition for the search term is very week so i doubt it will take much to rank.

Is it still all about content, content and more content?

Cheers
B

I think content marketing is about the best way for the SEO, for that you need to setup a blog to your website where you have to write unique and engaging content and share this content over various platforms. People will click on your post and come down to your blog. Once they reach to your blog, you can land those visitors to your website by using specific anchor text. This is about the best way to get ranked well in search engine.

      1. Write meaningful, full of information articles with some good keyword analysis
      2. Do content promotion
      3. Let backlinks come naturally

Above are all time SEO strategies which will work in longer run and leads to increase your ranking. If you are getting backlinks naturally that itself means that first 2 points are working together.

Create long evergreen content that built up with several long tails keywords and request for quality backlinks from other blogger.

It take some efforts but it is worth!

Best practices for Seo right now is having really good content. Google pays more attention now to the quality of content on your website over the amount of links. I noticed also that when your content has images and visitors stays on longer Google gives you good ranking.

Also having the keyword you trying rank for in your headline, article , domain and tags works good as well.

Google whole thing right now is providing quality content for users and it's getting more smarter in figuring out what is what. If you focus more on the quality of your content over ranking you will eventually be rewarded by Google.

I had a massive amount of success helping one of my clients with white hat seo in 2015 (it helped us go from $0 to a six-figure business in less than a year, almost entirely with SE traffic).

    Here's what I would say:

    1) Long-form, industry-leading content gives you a greater return on your time and a better chance of getting ranked — both for your target keyword, variations of your target KW, and long-tails.

    2) Although it's been beaten to death, keyword research is the most important part of the process. Doing it correctly sets you up for future success. By correctly, I mean choosing keywords with lower competition and higher search volume. I used to do this manually, but now I use Long Tail Platinum which made the process 10X faster.

    3) Building backlinks is about reaching out to pages with a relatively high likelihood of linking to your page. I had a lot of success with resource pages and broken link building. Guest posting was a big one as well, since we could control link placement, surrounding content, and anchor text.

    4) Create content that's noticeably better than what is already out there on the topic. Spend a lot of time researching how you can make your content stand out. It may take longer to create more of these pieces, but you'll eventually brand yourself as the go-to resource/business for this information.

In the end, it really is about the value you're providing. You just need to get yourself exposure by targeting low-competition keywords and building in-content, contextual backlinks to it.

Personally, I don't follow the whole "create great content and you will naturally attract backlinks" idea. If I do naturally attract backlinks, it will be in addition into the links I actively reached out for. I prefer to take my link building/traffic generation into my own hands.

Best of luck! Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss this stuff more.

Content is the real king but quality content is the real king Quality means that the content should be well written and be free from those embarrassing typos that make visitors wonder if your website really knows what it's talking about. For our purposes, however, it also means that content should be rich in keywords, informative and interesting, so that the visitor feels they've learned something. Such is the power of Quality content.
