      Domain authority not only helps you to rank for keywords but also makes your site appear authorities to search bots that mean whatever you write is considered important. And this indirectly means more followers, more sponsored post requests, and more value of your blog/website.

    If you are just looking to increase DA than blasting with tools like GSA will increase the DA pretty quickly. It will really only be worthwhile though if you are purposely looking to increase the metrics for link selling or something like that.

    When you are building an authoritative website, make sure that all the inner pages of your blog/website are strongly built to each other. Create authority for all the pages you have in your website, and optimize each page for the specific keyword it is targeting. You should tell Google that all the internal pages are as much as important to rank well, just like the home page or any other popular page of your website. So we need to build a lot of backlinks for internal pages in order to show up in Google.

    DA is not a ranking factor. I agree. But if you get many links in your niche from domains that have a higher DA than your domain, in the end it 'should' help with your rankings.

    Basically, that tactict which work for your online popularity and visibility should work to your website's authority. In other words, doing the best online practices helps your website get a good reputation on the Web. And all the next practices are done for one thing to gain more traffic:
    - write up-to-date and relevant content;
    - write comments on blogs and websites in your niche;
    - generate links from relevant sites.

    Improving your link profile is a crucial issue that I've addressed in detail before.

    At the most basic level, to have a good link profile, you have to do two things:

    Get rid of bad links.
    Gain good links.
    Let's deal with the first one -- getting rid of bad links. This is pretty straightforward. You request the removal of these links, and if that fails, you disavow them. Done.

    Now, what about the second one -- gaining good links? Realistically, you have two options. Option 1 is that you engage the services of an SEO agency that has relationships with websites and writers who can secure high-quality legitimate backlinks. This is a good option, but it is expensive and has risks.

    Option 2 is to create a site with high value information that elicits links by virtue of its awesomeness. That, my friends, is content marketing.

    What I've found is that content marketing is the solution to gaining DA. Although I'm still going to give you a list of things you can do to bump up your DA, I want to emphasize the most important factor: you improve your DA by doing content marketing well.

    DA is a metric that is created by Moz
    DA is totally based on various link metrics (nothing else is used in the calculation - check the moz site for more detail)
    Moz periodically adjust the weighting of different link metrics to try and correlate the DA number with Google search results (it correlates weakly)
    DA is NOT used by any search engine as a factor in their ranking algorithm (however, what improves the Google ranking might also improve the DA)
    An increase in DA does not increase rankings.

    Most importantly:
    correlation does not equal causation

    Please stop posting all the nonsense in this thread.

      Patel is very wrong on this. Most of what he suggests is NOT used by moz to calculate DA ... just go and read the Moz site for what they use to calculate it.

        Lol, I am glad someone said it. In my personal experience, most domains will gain some type of domain authority in 9 - 12 months after purchase. I've had domains where I had literally nothing on them accept for "site is under construction" gain DA and PA after about a years time. I say this because I have seen it multiple times with some of my domains.

        @Removing bad backlinks to increase PA / DA not only would this be pretty much a waste of your time it will decrease your Domain Authority and Page authority.. "Bad Backlinks" are essentially a fairytale at this point. Think of it like this, if it all it took was for someone to go to Fiverr and pay $5 for spammy backlinks to derank competition don't you think everyone would be doing this? As long as you have a good link structure it will balance itself out.

          All domains get a DA when MOZ crawl the site and process the number. That does not take 9-12 months

      If you had any clue about DA, then you would know that that is NOT the case
      Here are the few ways that can improve the domain authority of your site :
      • Use social media to market your content by writing great content.
      • Promote your social media that increase your brand and website exposure.
      • Brand Awareness that advertise your brand on social media sites.
      • Get rid of bad links and gain good links from more sites.
      • Increase your friendliness of your site.
      • Social media optimization can give you referral traffic and brand to your site.
