    Is the keyword on the page in a way that makes sense and is not used in a way that is unnecessary? That's the correct number.

    Hi mathompson, there are no right no of keywords in seo. what you have to do is select good quality of keywords, prefer long tail keywords.

    The standard percentage for a keyword is 1%. So if you have created a content with 500 words, mention the keyword 5 times in the body. It's okay to exceed at least 1-3. God bless!

      Who created / agreed upon the 1% standard?

      I mean, if I'm after a 7-word phrase and I'm writing a 100-word piece of content, how do you calculate the 1%?

      What if I'm writing a 300-word article and having the phrase more than 1 time looks odd, like I'm keyword stuffing?

          I mean, if I write an article about home insurance, I assure you the words home insurance will pop up enough, without me even thinking about keyword density, that any search engine and human being knows I'm writing about home insurance.

          Anyway, you're wrong about the 6%. Last Friday the Purple Hat SEO has decreed that the keyword density formula to be used henceforth is:

          Day of week / day of month x number of words/100 x 1.25/month number.

          So, today being the 27th of May and a Friday (5th day of the week), if you're writing a 500-word article, you should have a keyword density of

          5/31x500/100x1.25 or 1.00865%.
