Backlink getting from one website sidebar. Is it spamming?

I am getting backlink from a website sidebar. That website owner add my website link as favourite link on his sidebar widget area. Thus, i am getting backlink from his every page, every post even every tags.(Almost 100 backlink from 1 website)
I learnt that it looks like spamming. Isn't?
That website has not any PR but older than my website and has similar type content as well.

So, will this solution work?:
1) I want to disavow most of the backlink and want to keep few pages link. Is it a good solution?
2) Homepage backlink need to disavow or not? If i do that then it will create more negative impact on my site?
3) How many backlink are acceptable from single website?

Want to get some suggestion how to deal with this problem.

Do you like the website that has referred you? Is it helpful to your niche?

If so, I'd leave it be.

You're describing a perfectly normal link. This happens all the time with eg. blogs and event sites.

You can safely ignore the band of drooling morons who a) post only one or two sentences and b) use words like "spamming", "blackout" or "penalty" without actually clarifying why'd they say something like that. In fact you should ignore 90% of everything you read on this forum.

You should also improve the quality of your SEO information. Whoever suggested that the link is a problem - ignore that person. Just another one of these ignorant, hysterical, and alarmists douches.

I've got no idea what you're trying to say here. Backlinks to your tag archives?

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

Google collapses side-wide links into a single link, you have a backlink, congratulations. Don't do anything.

Didn't read the thread or can't comprehend it at the very least.

As long as the site wasn't written by a robot or has obvious spam backlinks, it's fine. Side-wide links are not spam, Google can figure out that it's a navigational element very easily.

That's why I asked if they liked the referring website. For me to like a website I will go back in and spend some time combing it over.

But I'm sure there are those who don't think to do that.

Good reminder for those who don't know.

If it is manually created link and is relevant to your site, leave it just like that. There you have one good additional link.

  • FOr your Question,

Do not get a link from a page where 30 links are already out bounded. Otherwise, Google consider it as a spam links.

Getting links from the sidebar is okay from any website. However, there should not be a mass of sidebar links driving to too many sites!

So what you're saying is that Google would automatically consider almost any directory page to be spam. Does this really make sense to you?

They don't need to do any of this stuff in most cases. Just divide the possible link juice among all the links.

Well, they're backlinks. I'd see that the tag archives don't have nofollow set on them for some reason, that the pages make some sense, and that your archives are not creating unnecessary duplicate content.

I've built sites that have the category archives in a major role.
