Your keyword should in your title and one of your subheadings.

The article must read like a 'natural' article.

Use Latent Semantic Indexing keywords (contextual related keywords) for other subheadings.

Don't get too crazy with bold font or text formatting.

Use longtail keywords for your navigation system.

First, you want to make sure your article is unique and easy to read. Use structure, like lists and subheading, tables (if necessary) so the text won't look all gathered together.
Next, you must be careful with the number of keywords used. Using them in the title , the first paragraph, in the subheading and in the last paragraph should be quite enough.
And the base rule: the text must be natural!

Write in a language that you know well. If you're a poor writer try to hire someone who's not. Not everyone is a natural born writer, and most of us just write very dull prose. This is something you can work on, but it will take a lot of time and patience.

I'd aim for compelling content that your target audience would like to share and link to. All of this stuff about keywords seems fairly irrelevant to me. If you're writing on a topic surely you mention the thing that you're writing about. That's kind of the point.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

This, this and this again. I can't say it loud enough but WRITE FOR PEOPLE .

Forget things like keyword density and think readability and remarketable content.

It's not an SEO book but I'd highly recommend you read Ogilvy on advertising.

He explains the purpose of a headline and sub heading and picture titles. The books about print adverts but honestly it translates onto the screen to. There are also some gems to learn in Ca$hvertising as well.

Once you have this understanding you can add images, videos and social share buttons to better suit the medium.

You'll get more links, more shares, more return visits, more new visitors and ultimately more business if you tailor 98% of your work to your audience/customer.
