I personally used to use Majestic to trace my website backlinks but then switched to Ahrefs because I found it picked up more backlinks. So, I would say using Ahrefs is a good choice.

It's the same to me, I also use Semrush and I see that it's also good to choice. Both Ahrefs and Semrush are free to see first 10 records. If you want more, you need to upgrade to premium package.

    Here's a suggestion.

Understand the fact that one 3rd party link scraper (ex: ahrefs) will never show 100% of any domain link profile.

Download links from multiple sources, combine all the list into a single file & remove duplicate URLs. Done.

      Best advice possible!

If you want to know ALL links - then thats the way to do it.

For me ahrefs + semrush is enough to know, they are a good combination

Personally I prefer Majestic, but it's just a matter of choice. Like others have said you will never get everything, just a proportion - which is more than often good enough.

I don't understand why you would need to find everything unless the client insisted or there was a problem.

IF you can only choose one due to budget either one of them is a fine choice but if I could only have one I'd probably go with majestic

      Budget?

You can buy from a reseller all day long for $5. Downloading a CSV file is almost impossible to screw up.

Ahrefs is great for backlink research, but the metrics have always been a bit iffy. I use Moz for my metric-based needs.

Ahrefs.com is great tool for Back link Research & it's working find.

  • Ahrefs is good, but it will not show all of the links that are actually present in your backlink profile. No tool shows the whole story. So, it is best to use 2-3 backlink checkers and compare the results. That way, you can get a better understanding of where your links are coming from.

It's good when you use paid version because it is showing few no. of backlinks in free version. So try to use paid version.

I barely check my backlinks status now.
If am not there then am not there and I know I need to do more.

What I use backlinks tool for is mainly to spy on my top 10 competitors.

Throw another +1 to ahref, best tool I seen regarding backlinks. Expensive, they should have a cheaper package for small users, they would do a lot more business.

Ahrefs is one of the finest site that can help you to analyze your backlinks status and other factors of your website. It checks the ranking of your keywords and portrays what is current status of it through a graph. Ahrefs displays organic keywords traffic, paid keywords traffic and estimated traffic on a website every month. It's the best site to get the overview of any website within an instant. It's quick

Ahrefs is very good tools to check back-links for a website. But we would like suggest you to try SemRush. One of the best tool for back-link checker competitor analysis and many more.

Ahrefs is definitely a genuine site for backlinks activity. I see my website's trend on Ahrefs and it clearly tells me abot my website traffic and geo location of users in detail.

The Majestic Tools is much better for me than Ahrefs. Majestic updates it's bases much quicker.

They are all much of the same, Ahrefs, Majestic, SEMRush, Moz. There are 1billion websites on the web, but only 0.5% of those are classed as significant. You could post 100s of articles to blogs and have absolutely no effect on rankings, or you could post one 2,000 word article to a high value site and your rankings go stratospheric, a high profile press release with backlink on NYTimes for example.

The tools will provide you upwards of 200millon websites and billions of backlinks, but you will have to filter them manually to find the ones that are important for your sector and quality of site. Honestly, it doesn't actually matter which one you use as they will produce very similar results, it's more personal choice. The best is to try each of them for a day and then decide which one 'feels' more comfortable, you're still going to have to do a lot of manual work to make the results in to something meaningful.

    Thanks,
The site was good while it lasted. I can't get on the site and I did pay for a lifetime membership. If anyone know how to contact ahrefs I would appreciate it.

If you are looking to analyze your own website backlink profiles then just link it to Google Webmaster's and use that to track links.

But if you are planning to research or spy on competitior links then Ahrefs is the best to go with.
