what are some ways you guys optimize your site to rank higher on your website?
Why is that i should have different key words for different pages on the same site?
how does having an alt tag on an image effect the seo?
and just generally how does google determine whether your site is better then competitors.

Thanks !

Followed backlinks on other domain webpages that have their own followed backlinks (pointing at the backlink page) and plain text is the core for ranking pages. Without those two things a page will never rank on Google SERPs for any decent traffic volume keyword.

Keep your internal webpages unique because otherwise Google will bury duplicate internal pages on the same domain in Supplemental SERPs where it will never be found by search traffic. You can have very similar internal pages but not duplicates.

Alt-text is basically the same as plain text, the Google cache text version shows alt-text as plain text. Alt-text is ok to use but it's a weak ranking factor for images. Followed links pointing directly at an image URL is the strongest image ranking factor. That goes for any file type, not just images or webpages.

      Hello Yukon,

Your answer was really helpful and led me to believe i still have much to learn in the realm of SEO.

In terms of plain text do you mean the quality of the content I write on my website about the specific topic/niche?

So i guess from most to least important are as follow:

Dofollow back links > Plain Text (quality of the content) > Let the title tag, meta description tag and <p> tag contain the same keyword > diversifying key words between different pages on same domain > and having alt-text for images

      Thanks !

Your website should be mobile friendly. This will vote it up.
Every page has it's own content, they couldn't be duplicate, right? And so on, every page must have it's keywords. Keywords and Content has a relation between them, the words mostly used in your content should go into the page's keywords.
Alt tag of a linking image is like an anchor text of a link, it helps google to specify how relevant the link is and gives the link more value.
Google will take a peek into hidden advantages of websites, will see whether they're mobile friendly and how much their content is unique. It'll also see how much competing websites contain errors and which are the clickable ones.

Well, there is no alternative of quality backlinks. You need to select good keywords and good written articles. Then you need to have some quality nofollow and do follow backlink. That's it.

Step 1: Concentrate on your content
Step 2: Provide a clean design and neat navigation options.
Step 3: Have strong social media presence.
Step 4: Get mentioned in other websites either through guest posts or sponsored posts.
Step 5: And finally building links through comments, bookmarkings, web 2.0s also work.

You can follow these guidelines to improve site rank :
1). Creating compelling, relevant and useful content; such as writing about your products, industry, general current market information with keyword oriented useful content will likely influence your website.
2). Generate quality back links from quality sites
    3) Update site content/ add relevant content time to time
    4) Check site errors if any exist

Google ranks a page according to large number of factors. They are:
    • Google ranks your page depending upon the number of links pointing to your website. Higher the number of quality links, more chances for getting ranked by google.
    • Google gives importance to the title tag of your webpage. Include Keywords in your title.
    • You page must have the words which people searches for.
    • Optimize for the right keywords.
    • Search engines gives importance on how often you publish to your website. The more frequent your publishing schedule, the more frequently search engine spiders check in with you.
