Safe SEO for ecommerce site

Hi,
We have an ecommerce website built on the woocommerce platform in the UK. At the moment 99% of our customers are derived from Adwords. We have not done anything really with SEO and need to start to improve our organic presence. Sadly whilst I am sure I could learn this I simply do not have the time.
What I am looking to do is outsource our SEO probably initially as a one time project but potentially with some longer term arrangement.
As I found when outsourcing our adwords it is very hard to know who to go with. I have in the past personally done some IM and know that these forums are a wealth of information on SEO.
I can see there are some advertisers offering packages at competitive prices for SEO but I am not really sure if those are for us. I am very anxious about anything that might cause us a problem with google and I have a feeling that the needs of IM are different to what we want but really do not know.
Any advice about where to go with this, and if the packaged deals here are suitable would be very gratefully received.
