Thoughts On Backlinking Community Sites & Google

There is a tons of talk about what is happening on KickApps community sites and Angela and Paul's lists becoming less effective due to over use, and what Google does and does not value via their algorithm...

All of which comes back to our own questions about where to get good backlinks!

Maybe we are asking the wrong question...

What we should be asking isn't where to get what we want, but how to give the Web 2.0 Community sites what they want, and give Google what it wants. If we do this, we will have an abundance of places to post our backlinks and they will stick. Google will find our stuff and value it. Our rankings will soar and everybody is happy!!

But to do that we have to be what all of these want us to be which is to say:

Providers of Quality Content

If we supply the community sites with articles, blog posts and input into their forums and discussion groups then we aren't spamming their sites with out backlinks, we are posting info about ourselves: A functioning member of the community!

If we are writing articles to publish then we have given value and our backlinks are accepted!

If we participate in forums, then our sig files (with out backlinks) are a perk of being one of the crowd...

Yep, it takes more time and effort!

Yep, you can rarely automate it!

Yep, your backlinks will get more attention and therefore traffic!

Yep, there are pros and cons...

Within Angela and Paul's packets each month are a core of sites that allow you to make blog posts. Shoot these few sites alone are worth the price of the packets. I key in on those and stop to post quite a few articles on them. These sites NEVER take down the backlinks in my profile. And I almost always see traffic coming to my sites from them as well. Even the ones that are "Off Topic" and therefore "Not Relevant".

As always this is just MHO...

This is a great idea but the major underlying problem is time. I'd love to do all those things but I dont have the time or resources to do so. I already own and manage more than 50 sites in competitive niches where I do SEO, content writing and a million other tasks every day. Doing all of the above tasks as well would see me working 24/7 without sleep!

The time is nigh for finding your own untapped resources for backlinks. AE and PJs methods are great but they're oversaturated and undoubtedly will lose their value.

Find your own way and you'll have an untapped source. I already have a powerlist of high pr sites with a huge list of edu, gov and mil sites that are untapped by IMers. These are great as it means my links probably dont get classed as spam and there arent a million links to weight loss pills and penis enlargment sites that are sure to raise some kind of flags and devalue my backlinks.

It is hard for me to fathom how people can say that Angela's and Paul's lists are tapped out. They give you a new list of sites every month. These sites have been allowing people to register and leave their links for who knows how long. But now they get on Angela's and Paul's list, they are tapped out. That just doesn't add up in my mind.

With the number of people on the web, the few that get those lists can't add up to a pimple on a fly's butt.

I don't know how you can say that you have a list of sites that is untapped by IMers. If they accept links, then they have links and IMers have placed their links there. Other wise, how did you find that they accepted links?

Now I can buy into the running out of time situation. If you have that many sites, then I would hope that you are making some money with them. You can't run an empire without hiring people. There are hundreds if not thousands of people around the world that will do the grunt work of posting links and writing articles and who knows what else you might need. Spend a few dollars to get that type of work done and it will more than pay off with higher revenues. If it doesn't, then you have been doing something wrong and you need to revamp.
