    Why NOT SEO?

Here's a statistic that will OPEN YOUR EYES BIG:

Up to date, Google now processes over 40,000 search queries every second on average, which translates to over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year worldwide.

Check out the stat here: Google Search Statistics - Internet Live Stats

    So why not SEO?

      Hi Bloggerscampus,

      That's great news.

I can use all the targeted traffic I can get, and if the price is still "free" I'd like to place an order for all of your targeted traffic inventory. At that price I can easily afford everything you can offer. Please contact me for the largest order of your life. I'm prepared to purchase trillions of targeted visitors as long as you keep your price at "free".

Thanks you so much for your generous offer. I look forward to keeping you very busy fulfilling my massive order for your "free" offering.

      Kind Regards,

      Don

Make a content exactly related to your website. Use your keyword in the content. H1 heading for it, use h2 tag for inner heading.

ALT text for all images you use, try to use optimal images. Don't put external links to your home page, make inner links properly and each page must have index page link.

Similarly so many thing, you can use to make optimize your website.

      2- Off page Optimization

      Article Writing and posting
      Directory Submission
      Classified Ads posting
      Social bookmarking
      Press releases distribution etc....
      Hi sadikmd,

Isn't part "2" better classified as promotional activity rather than SEO?

Sure, you apply the same SEO techniques mentioned in part 1 to all of your content, onsite or offsite, but you didn't mention that in your post.

I think one of the biggest problems the SEO industry has is the consistent misclassification of activities, presumable to make it more sellable to clients. I would definitely classify part 2 as SEM, but SEO? Nope.

Naturally, those offsite promotional activities should have true SEO performed on the content, however calling the promotional activity SEO is a bit of a misnomer, and done deliberately to "muddy the waters", so to speak.

I believe this misclassification of promotional activity evolved as a result of SEO providers attempt to show results to clients. Sure, it is search engine manipulation, but not true SEO. It is promotional activity that also happens to include SEO techniques that are performed on the content used for that offsite promotional content.

Let me make an analogy. If you were a general contractor and realizing you can charge more for plumbing work than for general construction, Would you call your construction firm a "plumbing" firm, and bill clients at a higher rates if you thought you could get away with it?

That is basically the reason so many people call promotional activity "SEO", even though it really is not SEO, it just happens to include a little SEO (plumbing) as part of the construction.

Promotional content service providers have called their promotional activities SEO for so long that many people think that it actually is SEO. It is afterall called SEO, so why not? Hell, let's call everything SEO, blogging is SEO, right? So is social media marketing, and PPC advertising, hell everything is SEO, might as well call every activity SEO, that way clients can never be sure what you do nor whether you are doing it right.

Words mean things, right? Or, in this case they do not.

They don't care about SE ranking at all

They do not have time to learn to learn proper SEO

They followed the herd, did bad SEO and it came back and bit them in the arse, now they are lost and use SM instead because it's easier to spam.

They think Social media ranks web pages

Some may use it sensibly as part of an overall lead/sales strategy, but know it doesn't rank web pages on its own.

Lol, were you a lawyer in a previous life?

Please highlight the sentence in the post where I said that or even implied it.

Herd, by definition = a 'large group' of people, definitely not a 'majority'

Good rankings in the search engines often provide you with a higher return on your investment in the long run. Think of it this way: traditional advertising is like paying for traffic directly, while SEO is like growing a tree that later on gives you traffic for free.

If you need traffic fast, conventional forms of advertising, such as radio commercials, television, or PPC ads can deliver it much more efficiently. If you’re looking to invest in something that brings a higher ROI over the long-run, consider making SEO a core part of your long-term marketing strategy.

SEO is the process of spreading the info of any business worldwide by dropping the links of the website in other high quality websites which is referred as a backlink. It is a long term process and a bit slow as well. The impact of SEO can be seen when a huge number of visitors click on your site daily and your rank increases in Google search engine suddenly.

      Hi prakashmalhotra,

I disagree 100% with your assertion of what SEO is.

You simply described web spam, not SEO. Web spam is just that, not SEO. SEO is something we do to our content to make it easier for Search Engines to understand what our content is about. Backlinks are a form of promotion, and as such not purely SEO, but a form of SEM.

Yes, you can and should use SEO on your content, regardless of where you post it, but backlinks can be, and often are, un-optimized, and therefore not involving any SEO.
