New Business

If you have experience conducting your business on the Internet (e-commerce, non-profit, consulting, etc.), then you know the key to success / failure of the business is the reputation of the website owner. I'm not talking about pop or movie stars. What I'm talking about is that the name should be well known in some circles - what that person does and who he/she is. This is very important: you have to make your audience that listens to you, this audience will be the basis of your business - what's important here is your experience. It's much harder to start a business from scratch and much easier if you are already an expert, voice your opinions, give interviews and have thousands of subscribers in your online blog. Obviously, it takes time to set up something like that, at least 1-2 years. But what if it's urgent, if you need it asap? You have no idea where to start - what to write in social networks, who your friends are, how to behave, etc.

Let me take you through a possible list of actions based on the example of an entrepreneur, who is mid-age, 45, an owner of several businesses. The entrepreneur planned to open a business abroad and get financing from a foreign bank. The bank had domestic and foreign branches. After talking to the bank, the entrepreneur got a word that there were very little information about him on the Internet - how could he be a promising businessman if the public knew nothing about him. It was clear that it was urgent to improve his reputation on the Internet.

What we did in 4 months

We conducted a primary analysis: the search on the Internet yielded an actor with the same name. The main objective was to create an image of a successful businessman, an expert in his field of business, who understood the subject, had some regalia (awards, Ph.D., etc...)

We carried diverse work to provide the most natural view of the information that was published on the Internet and that had a definite impact on the people receiving it. We built his full profile. It is logical that since a businessman owned several companies, these companies had their information on the Internet. We set up several branches with feedbacks on the business review websites, backdated some of the reviews (the old dates for the previous few years). Around 10% of the reviews referred to the owner of the company in a positive way. A number of major media blogs have their own internal blogging system by various authors. We created two blogs on major online media sites with a business orientation, and registered our client as an author. Set up a branch with information about the author and had published posts regularly on behalf of the client for three months. The main objective was to show the value of the author as an expert in his area of expertise.

We pumped blog (7-8 positions). Each publication included comments (5-20) to facilitate the promotion. Working with social networks, we created an account on LinkedIn. Filled in the application form, signed by several dozen friends. Posted two entries in the style of the publication in his blog. The task was to bring the branch in the top SERPs.
Working with texts, we published several interviews with the client on business websites.
The results: after 4 months we completed the main phase of the personal reputation building. Top 10 results in google produced favorable reviews. The customer could clean any potentially dangerous content.

That's the minimum, after that point everything should continue to operate in a standard mode for months. Facebook can't be ignored as it carries a significant weight in professional circles. It's important to continue working with the business publications: at least occasionally publishing and posting here and there as a commentator and make references to the business and its owner. You may also want to add a separate site-blog for an entrepreneur and to post some notes twice a month, results, reports, life hacking, lessons for young entrepreneurs, and so on, a lot of options. Blog entries could be periodically supplemented with facebook posts. Other ways to promote is to write and publish a book by the client. Such traces on the Internet are very helpful in any business, including the offline. In fact, it seems to me that both offline and online are mixed together these days: some parts at least are migrating to the Internet. A company with ambition simply cannot escape the issues related to reputation building. If you have a similar problem, you can look for other cases. Note - the bulk of this work is done manually! Of course, we used some tools, but the main instrument, or rather three are as follows:
  • brains
  • experience and relationships (blogs, review websites, etc.)
  • knowledge of how to set and seed reputation.

Be careful how you advertise that you are a writer, as you are not inspiring any confidence in your potential customers.

Haha, I haven't heard that in years.
