Best way to Maximize a .Ca website

I have Custom Drum Tracks from Toronto, Canada drummer Chris Perra . When I bought the domain a year ago I didn't realize that .ca was geared towards a Canadian market and not world wide..
Is buying another global domain a good idea? The intention isn't to change or have a new permanent URL. like some others would want.. I just want to rank higher globally.
I've gotten it to be number one in Canadian google search for custom drum tracks but am on 3rd or 4th page in the U.S.
Is it better to get a new domain that is global and forward that to my .Ca will my .ca SEO carry over to a new domain that is going to be forward to the .ca
Is it safe to have a duplicate website just with different .net vs .ca
Will a domain with no website,.. who's only function is to forward to another even rank SEO wise?
Or is it better try to optimize my .ca SEO/wesbite to rank better worldwide
