Backlinks

Hi,
I have a simple question, at least I think it's simple. I'm trying to build traffic to a site that among other things has articles that I write and post there. The question is: will it do any good for backlinks to put the site name and address on the articles as a signature even though the site name and address is that of the site the articles are posted to?

      You won't get backlink, if your signature is without URL of site. Initially, you should get knowledge over back links and understand methods to get a backlink. Then implement those methods to get a backlink.

    a little confusing, but if the post is on your site.. thats not a backlink but an internal link..

    That's a little confusing.

    Are you referring to something like this:

    YourSiteDomain
    http://yoursitedomain.com

    ?????????

    OR

    Are you referring you getting links on other sites, pointing to your site?


    If you post a link on your own site, it's not really a backlink, so I don't really understand what you are trying to say.

    Giving site name will not help, instead of giving site name you should either hyperlink your site or simply type full url of you website.
    And if the post you have written will go live on your website, in this case this will not be treated as Backlinks.

    Ok, I guess I phrased it wrong. I understand what back links are, that's not the problem. What I want to know, will search engines such as Google or Yahoo, list my site faster if the site address is on the bottom of each article I post even though the site I'm posting to is my site containing the address of my site. I used the term back link only because any google listing will be pointing back to my site.

    For instance, if I post an article to EzineArticles, I place my site name and address at the bottom of my article. That provides a backlink to my site. Would the same be true if the article is posted to my "article" site with the name of my site and address on the bottom of the article. Would Google treat it the same as it would from EzineArticles? This has nothing to do with popularity of Ezines, just an example.

      If you make the name a link, yes, it's a link. An internal link. Internal links are good, if you use them well.

      Why not link from article #1 to page b, using a keyword you want page b to rank for?

      Also, google silo structure in SEO, or search this forum for Yukon's posts on the subject.

    we should be careful in building links from another sites. as well as always get backlinks from relevant articles and relevant sites.

    What keywords are you targeting? Are you trying to rank the site for its name, or other keywords?
