Hello guys

So I am looking at SEO on my Wordpress Ecommerce site. One of the many videos I have watched over the past few days suggested reducing the length of my permalinks to show better in Google search so for example

peanut-butter-plain-crunchy-265g

to

natural-peanut-butter

I can edit this right in Wordpress and after looking at Screaming frog it shows the old URL and 301 'moved permenently' with the redirected URL

I entered the old URL into my address bar and it does re direct.. so all good I think

But do I need to worry about how Google looks at this at all or do I need to do anything else?

Thanks

WordPress is one of the best, if not the best content management systems when it comes to SEO. That being said, spending time on your WordPress SEO might seem like a waste of time, it most definitely is not. Optimizing your site to the best practices outlined in this article will help you improve your rankings, gain more subscribers and have a better website in general. As we take quite a holistic view on (WordPress) SEO, meaning that we think good SEO should be engrained in all aspects of your online marketing and PR, this guide covers quite a lot of ground and is therefore a long read. Check out the table of contents below for some quick jumping around.

This is fine Wholesale. In the future new pages wont have the 301, its just the old pages that will.

So I can go ahead with some keyword research and change titles and slugs with no issues?

If the blog post is already posted there is no need to change or edit the titles as well as the content so before it will be posted be sure to analyze the whole content in which optimize for the target audience.

Yes you can go ahead but remember that this should be only once as changing urls time to time will lost the value of that particular page, change meta tags is fine.
