Old domain with traffic better than parked domain ???

Hi,

I just noticed many marketers are registering a lot of deleted domain names.
My question is: is it better to buy an old domain name with little traffic or a parked one ?

I have two possibilities
1 - old (2005) domain name listed in Dmoz with little traffic and main keyword in the domain
2 - old (2009) parked domain (no traffic and no Dmoz).

What do you think ?

    I was stung only last week after buying a domain that I found had an Alexa ranking within 200,000 domains in the world only to find that I had no traffic going to it once I bought it. A lot of research into the metrics of the name such as the backlinks and common sense plays a part.

    I was really keen on buying up old domains that had traffic going to them already and so thats how I got caught up in the game. I am still keen buy after much research I can only assume that there was once a time it was a profitable game but now its not as profitable as it once was.

    Old domains do carry valuable link juice in them. Some are spam though. So you need to check the domains before buying them.

    Parked domains are utterly worthless. Before buying any previously owned domain, check out its history in the WayBack Machine to see the kinds of content that used to be on it (sometimes you want no part of that content). Also, use a tool to see the backlink profile. Tons of domains with spammy backlink profiles are being sold that will NEVER rank.

    The domains mean nothing.

    The reason to buy a previously owned domain would be for either followed backlinks or relevant direct traffic.

    Nothing else matters as far as the domain.

    I think old domain with traffic is better than parked domain but be aware of the spam activity which is done on the old domain.

    Try finding old domains with high traffic, just make sure to check the backlinks it has. The higher, the better, most people would go for that option and use it as PBNs to boost the main site with traffic and rank.

    You should go for option 1, this will not only helps to increase online presence eith little efforts but its domain age and dmoz listing will also helps a lots.

    Its rare to find an old domain with quality backlinks, most of the domains available to purchase have spammy back links which makes them useless. Before buying, should do a back link research to find out the source of back links.
    If you have done the research then I would suggest go for option 1 otherwise options 2 would be wise (to start from scratch)
