SEO by yoast wordpress questions

Hi there, I am using SEO by yoast wordpres plugin and I have some questions for those who are experts in using the plugin:

plugin version: 3.5

1-I disabled the sitemap section in the plugin. I only use get my sitemap from site called xml-sitemaps.com and I uploaded my site map into my website root in cpanel and then added it to google and bing. that is it. should I also activate sitemap in the plugin?


2-in the titles and meta, Archives section - I did the following. is this ok:

3-If someone can share with us a snapshot of his plugin so we can use it the right way. better to be same version.

    If your current sitemap is working and search engines can find it and crawl it without errors then No you don't need to enable the sitemap settings.

    My settings are different from yours. Mine are done in a way to avoid duplicate content, I'm talking about on-page duplicate content. I know off-page duplicate content is a myth but on-page, it can cause harm.

    It can also weaken your link juice coz your link juice will be spread to too many pages. So that's why I always disable archives, author pages and tags. The only thing I leave is the categories, lots of studies have shown that they don't cause on-page duplicate content issues.

    Hey, does someone know why in the newer version of Yoast plugin you cannot hide the RSS and RSD links in the header?

    I had a few issues with wordpress customization and plug from Yoast in the past. After a few days I decided to write to support and gave me a solution after 12 h. For me the problem was modified template + work with another plug for caching.

    Yes if the current sitemap is working well then no need to create using yoast because that can create duplicate sitemap and would cause error in WMT.
