We are trying to setup adwords campaign for our website which sells body building supplements along with vitamins and dietary supplements, however there is a problem with quality score.

We have tried setting up the ad group based on the landing page as well as individual product pages (using google keyword tool). The quality score that comes up is 1/10 despite the fact that we have the keyword in the ad and on the site as well.

I am wondering if the site could be black listed or has some bad history with adwords. Could that be the case?

I would really appreciate your help

    Hi alexei_aus,

Sounds like you are experiencing what is known in the industry as the "Google Slap". This occurs when your quality scores are reduced due to a issues ranging from poor CTRs to inadequate landing page elements.

The latest slap was prompted by an FTC crackdown on websites that recommend or endorse products in exchange for commissions on sales of that same product. This practice is considered dubious by the FTC and Google is trying to clean up their advertiser base to avoid becoming a target of this crackdown.

The first thing you should do is use the ad diagnostic tool to narrow the reason for your poor quality scores. Once you have done that, report back here what you learn and I will try to help you further.

I am having the same problem. I am trying to do multiple campaigns for my affiliate companies. To begin my Google quality score is anywhere from 5/10 to 10/10. After the first day I check all the ads and keywords and all of my scores on all of my ads are 1/10.

Same thing for me. I use the keywords in the adds and that are on the landing page. I have actually used the keyword suggestions based on Google's analysis of the website where the landing page is and still get the same results.

for this problem it is best to have target landing pages for each of your top KWs - if you study the big companies then you see what I mean; also be sure to have good text (with target KWs in them) and the KW in the Metatags / Description / Headline... - Onpage SEO and relevance is key here
