Free Backlinks?

Yea I must confess. I am truly a newby to the whole forum concept. The first 2 times I tried to post this thread it was deleted - not enough context. Thus I see a steep learning curve ahead in the "forum it up" story. Who knows, maybe one day when "I'm grown up" I'll try to start my own forum. LOL.

I have however been building websites for a few years now.

So this is my experience:

On page SEO only takes you about 1% up the ladder.
I mean you need a gazillion perfectly optomized pages to get some decent traffic if you don't have backlinks. Also lack of funds.
I think back linking is far the bigger factor.

Obviously I know that to buy backlinks or to pay for a service would probably be the easiest.

But not having loads of funds at my disposal, I must rely on free methods. I mean if I am to invest money, it needs to pay of. I cant "experiment" by investments.

So I am seriously in need of good cheap/cost effective back linking strategy.

Why did i not start paying attention to this way earlier, you may ask?
To be honest, maybe I am stubborn and easily fall into a pattern.

Beside the usual social media options, try some link building networks or other social sites. Like Reddit for example, you can gain quality backlinks from there as long as you're not spamming. You can join groups on that site that relate to your niche.

I selected this niche because their is a high demand for information on the subject. Also "make money online", "blogging for money", "how to make money" is keywords with high search request and high cpc. I initially thought of using google adsense, but after some research decided to use other income streams. Still experimenting with that.

Mmk, so what you need to do is get your link out there as much as possible. There are a few ways to do that.

Other Blogs

To find them, search for blogs relevant to your niche that rank well in the search engines. Keep a list of relevant blogs in a file somewhere.

You can get a little more advanced than just a list of links you can post to. I like to use Google Docs, and I also include how many comments their most recent posts get. Then I rank them in order of most engagement. If I only have time to post to 1 blog, I'm picking the one that people respond to the most!

Comment and reply to their posts with a link back to yours, obviously. Make sure your comments are relevant and well thought out.

Forums

Sign up for forums that are relevant to your niche and add a signature with a relevant, enticing call to action to your site. Then start posting, just like you are now.

If you have questions post them. If you have answers, even better: post them. In depth answers to common questions give strong, long-term links to your site.

If there's recent news or drama in the make-money-blogging world, post a link to an article and give your thoughts on it. That seems to get more immediate engagement than in depth answers, but not as "strong" link juice.

Twitter

First things first, make Lists. Add all the experts and influencers you can find to those lists. You can make them public (more publicity, influencers will notice you and follow you back) or private (secret spy lists). It doesn't matter, just keep them relevant.

Whenever you need content you can check the list and see what everyone else is talking about. You can RT relevant and helpful stuff for your followers without having to scroll through a bunch of hashtags.

To get YOUR link noticed, use TweetDeck (official and free) or any other scheduling software to blast out each of your blog posts over the course of 6 times, 1 to 3 times a day. That will get your link well-established on Twitter.

If you want engagement, make sure you schedule about ~9 non-link tweets between posts. I like to start tweeting facts about what the article is about before the link comes.

For example, I wrote a 7000 word blog post about quitting sugar not that long ago. The 9 tweets leading up to my link were all random sugar facts. "#Sugar is 9x more addicting than #cocaine. Yikes!" "Tonight @DrOz is discussing whether #sugar causes #cancer. This will be interesting." and other tweets like that all came before my "how to work with your body to quit sugar" link. A bunch of MDs retweeted me (super authority), because I had taken the time to set them all up into niche-ified lists, and I had responded to and retweeted their content plenty of times before that.

Facebook

Make a page for your website. Get your website link up, a header, and a profile picture set up. Always post links to your blog posts. Facebook engagement is usually highest with about 3 non-link posts to 1 link post.

Find a bunch of relevant and popular pages and like them as your page. Start posting as your page on their content. Leave comments, reply to other comments, and like other people's comments. This will start building up your likes.

A good way to get a lot of engagement is to share influencers materials with a controversial opinion. Write your in-depth opinion as the comment of the shared post.

Then go back to the original post and leave a quick comment "I know I'm gonna get attacked for this, but [controversial opinion.] I go into a little more in depth on my page but basically this is [the best/worst] because [reason]."

Google+

People use Google+ but it's kinda lame. Regardless, it's google's platform so when you setup a profile with a link to yourself, it's going to get a ton of authority. It's essential to have a Google+ page for your website if you want to build up your SEO.

I just have my articles auto post to my Google+ page. I don't ever touch it at all for any niche I've ever been in.

I'm sure there are other ways to build links that are free and easy-ish that I'm forgetting. Good luck!

For now is you can rely on below mentioned methods to backlinks:

1) Participate in Forums and gain trust to gain the link for the website.
2) Social Bookmarking activity
3) Blog Commenting but ensure that you give genuine name.
4) Go for broken link activity
5) Go for social media activities as well to drive traffic.
6) Opt for write for us activity(nothing guest blogging).

Nowadays only white hat SEO is work, if you do black hat then google penalize you very fast.
Firstly I clearly say content play a major role so don't do copy paste and write informative content having good engage word which attracts readers interest.

You can create videos on Youtube talking about the different methods to earn money online. It is not necessary that you show your face. You can do this in the format of tutorials.

I now believe that social signals have a very low impact on your ranking.
This is what John Mueller from Google sais:

What you do sometimes see however is that the social posts do show up in the search results. I believe we show Twitter content in the US on mobile (now desktop also) so that is something that might be visible as well. It is not that your content will rank higher because of that, but there is just more content with your company name or your brand or your product name out there and we might choose to show that in the search as well.

Web 2.0 backlinks work a treat. Scrape for expired Tumblr blogs with lots of backlinks pointing to them, re register them and drop some content and a backlink on them. All that lovely ranking juice will flow down to your site and push it up the SERPs. It's free and easy...get Tumblr Hunter to scrape for the blogs...it's free too.

Create good content, share that content with social followers and prominent bloggers in your niche.

If the content is truly unique and helpful it will generate backlinks on its own. Just know that you have to promote it a bunch before those backlinks start to flow.

At least I am being honest right from the start here when I explain my predicaments and why I need input from fellow bloggers. I thank each individual that contribute anything worth while on this thread. And its the niche I chose and I will stick with it until it's a success.

Its called contradictive marketing and it is intended to engage.
It is surely working very well because it got you revved up quite good.
So maybe, just maybe there is just the tiniest little speck of method to my madness.

I have found that the quickest way to get backlinks to your site is to leave comments on blogs related to your specific niche. Find blogs that accept comments from users and leave meaningful, insightful comments. ( You don't want your posts to be identified as spam ). You will be able to leave a link to your website with your contact details.

Making money online is very competitive in the related field aside from its general term there are also high competitors websites in which you need to overcome. Building backlinks is not the basis but the reputation of your website to the target users.

Thanks Kylie. Yes I am discovering exactly what you are saying slowly but surely. Ah well none the less, I've started this endeavour and I will follow it through. The reason I chose this niche is because I too are very interested in it. So let me then call it a journey.

Today I took the leap of faith and subscribed at backlinksindexer.com. Took the $3 a month option. Being one man only I need the help of a professional service. I have been trying the free way for a very very long time now and it is tedious and brings very little reward. I am going to buy some backlinks from One Hour Backlinks as well. I am just tired of braking my back for scraps. Budget is tight so I will have to rely on the free mothods still. I am just slowly going start supplementing it with some payed for stuff.

  Many of the other free methods will lead to disaster ex:
  Blog commenting
  Auto submitters
  Any free service which promise links that will be gained too quickly.
  
  Will be spammy and lead to penguin penalty.
  
  I will not buy the cheap links. Decided against One Hour Backlinks and rather bought a couple of link from backlinks.com and set it up with backlinksindexer.com
  
  But as income is low at the moment I will do lots of forum activity and seek as much guest blogging oppertunities as possible.
