Possibly a dumb question but...

So, I understand Google doesnt like link wheels and such but I create websites for clients and often host them myself.

This means, I create the site, host on my server account and link back to my site from my client sites.

All the whois, server info points to me, even though they aren't my sites.

Anyone know how intelligent Google is with understanding based on the contact, contact information on the sites etc that they are client sites of a web designer and not a link farm owned by the web designer?

This has always concerned me but I haven't found anything that explains a case like this specifically.

If this is a concern, why don't you no follow the links? I assume they are footer links.

    Thanks folks.
I know setting them up on different hosting platforms would work fine but would be a much bigger pain.

If the sites belong to your clients, why are you keeping the domain names in your name? They should be turned over to your clients, unless I am not understanding what you are doing fully.

Like Dave said, if it is a concern, nofollow the links. It's really what you probably should be doing anyhow. Clients should not be forced to link to you.

Moz has another suggestion where if the client agrees you can create an about page and put some text about your company in there.

I hate that idea even more. How intrusive. It is their business. They don't need to give you a free ad page on their business site. If you are going to do that, you should be paying the client for the ad space.

I've always thought it was funny how a paying client would allow a footer link back to their web/dev, lol.

BTW, are those flowers on Rand's shirt?
