You can do it yes. But, it's not 2010 anymore and it's not among the better SEO strategies out there.

Yes but they'll never rank a page.

If you are really serious about your website/business, then don't do this type of crap activities. Just focus on quality work and build natural links. This types of activities can give you instant results, but it would be harmful in future. I will suggest you if you are doing it 1st and 2nd time then it's ok, but don't do it every week and every month.

Unfortunately some of the reputable article site are not accepting content anymore and close for registration as well as the worst for sale domains. Article submission is not only the way but also try other mediums to avoid suspicious activities.

  • Yes you can but I would strongly advise against it as it is one of the worst seo strategies, not only you won't notice any difference in traffic but also its a waste of time. I would rather suggest you convert your pdf document to something engaging like a facebook instant article or google accelerated mobile pages (AMP) edtion article.

By doing this, you are promoting the same article content on the different platforms, and you are getting backlink from the same document. In short, you are posting the same content on different websites and getting the link back to your site. I think it worst SEO strategy.

    Thanks

Many have said here, see basically there isn't any issue if you submit these PDF on more than one PDF sharing site, but that will not serve any SEO purpose these are all outdadted methods.

If you have a website then try to get some natural links through Business listings, writing article for your indsutry related blogs, creating social media pages, youtube channel and creating some nice videos about your services these are some ways but see that all should be flow naturally.

By submitting PDF you will not get rank improvement it will be just waste of your time and efforts.

    Hope this helps.

It still good benefit for some guys who doesn't rely totally on SEO, the reason they want is to spread out the document and receive traffic back, that's all. IMO.

Yes it can be done, see what is main point here is if you submit the these sites with only intention of backlinks and thus getting ranking may not be full filled.
But these sites can genearte you some traffic and no its not spaming as you are submit Docs it does not make it duplicates, so if you want to generate traffic you can go with that.

you can write one article, let’s say I’ve written an article and submit it to multiple document sharing sites. My
article could quite feasibly rank for multiple positions on the front page of Google on more than one document
sharing site, even if I don’t reword any of the content.

This is due to the way that search engines look at documents on sites like Scribd and DocStoc – they don’t place
so much emphasis on the article itself, because of the way they are displayed in a special format.Instead, search
engines tend to look at the description, tags, title, and any accompanying notes/comments. This means you can
write one article, submit it to 3 document sharing sites, and then use variations in title, description, and tags
    for the lot of them.

Yes, you can submit your PDF document to multiple document sharing sites to get backlinks.

When a generalized content is shared on multiple sites, Google counts it as duplicate. But when a promotional content or a general content with a call-to-action line included is posted to multiple sites to get backlinks, it is completely safe and white hat SEO way.
