Can we beat the Goliaths?

I have a quick question concerning ranking websites against the simple selling pages of big brand websites like Amazon, BestBuy, Walmart, Target, etc.

Is it likely that a website with great SEO can beat out these listing in order to gain a high ranking in the Google search?

    IMO it all depends on the keywords, if you want to rank for a certain term it's possible

    I never really understand why people ask these sort of questions.

    No offense, but just look in different SERPs and see for yourself. The answer is right there.

    Keep in mind that the big boys rarely optimize around niches. We beat Amazon, Walmart, etc. all the time. It all comes down to the search phrases. There are plenty of opportunities if you find the right phrases.

    Yes I have seen smaller companies outranking them many times so it is definitely possible Have to pick your battles though

    All you have to do is look at the link profile.

    Use openlinkprofiler and paste in the exact ranked URL, that will give you a rough idea how tough the ranked page is and If trying to take the ranked position is practical.
