How do I get Adsense to recognize keywords?

I have a self-hosted Wordpress blog with Adsense ads showing next to the full posts. This is my first Wordpress blog and i guess I'm missing something.

The ads are not targeted to my keywords. Do I need to install a plugin or is there another way to do this?

Also, will Adsense recognize the various tags associated with different posts?

Thanks!

    Your keywords should be included in the...

    1) Page Title

    2) Meta Description

    3) Meta Keywords

    4) Page Content

    Have you done this? Adsense is generally pretty good at finding relevant ads so if it's not working as it should then you have likely overlooked something.

    Maybe you could give us some more details.

    Keywords are in title.

    I'm using All in One SEO Pack;
    Keywords are in meta description and meta keywords.

    There are several categories all relating to keywords, although every article/post
    does not necessarily mention keyword densely. (most do, however)

    Even on the posts that contain keywords, there are Adsense blocks that do not pertain to my keywords.

    Could it be I need to go through the SEO Pack and optimize a little better? Some pages don't show Adsense ads, at all.

    I build WordPress-based AdSense sites daily. If your main "index" page is showing irrelevant ads, it is a known issue. The ads will eventually star showing correctly. If this is not your issue, your pages are probably not optimized for the keywords you are targeting OR it may be because there are not enough ads for the keywords you're targeting.

    Have a look at section targeting - https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...n&answer=23168

    You can suggest words or phrases you'd like Google to emphasise when choosing ads for your site, and it might help.

      You need to add these codes in your content.

      Article start

      <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

      Your content comes here

      <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

      Article end

      By adding these tags, Google will know to what content it should target the ads.It will take a few weeks before you see any real results.

    If you have done all the things suggested best thing to do is contact adsense support and ask them.

    I'm having the same problems. My homepage is giving me irrelevant ads, and so is one other page. Not quite sure what the problem is. I've made some changes to the content. How long until google recongises these changes?

    When I started with adsense I had the same issue for a few days (sometimes up to a week) before the ads started making sense and being targeted correctly.

      You can also add it to the image tags, and create keyword anchor text when backlinking. But, with a little patience it usually corrects itself without having to do that.
