What kind of site do you have? Pages on sites like forums or other membership sites create pages on the fly, and google may attempt to crawl them. Ditto for search results on the page. They exist for a moment, but not created forever.

Somehow when those pages are created, they are somehow leaving traces on the server. So a real 404 error is not returned. To fix that, you would need a tech person.

You might block the crawler from some places, especially search using your robots.txt

Soft 404 errors are not great for your website, as they use resources from things like crawlers.
The crawler is wasting its time, which could affect crawling of your real pages.

Could be a few things. Has this been happening or did it recently start? Did u recently get a new caching plugin or search plugin?

Shouldn't be a problem. Just mark all of them as fixed in search console and bump the thread if errors start showing again.

Looks like your search plugin is appending percent url encoding and Google doesn't know what to do with it.

    Dear Iancha,

404 error mainly happens when we do any types of changes on website pages or categories. And don't worry about this you can easily fix them.

Steps to Fix 404 Not Found Error:

    1. Go to webmaster account and download all pages.

    2. Make a excel sheet where you can give the name to these URL's as Old pages.

    3. Make another column give name to that new column.

    4. In new column find the relevant pages to all pages, where you can redirect these pages.

    5. After completing or making new relevant redirection pages list.

    6. Goto you cpanel and find file manager folder.

    7. After entering inside the file manager folder check .htacccess file.

    8. Then apply 301 redirection code before each URL

    Such as Redirect 301 /helpful-page.htm /joomla/helpful-page

You can find the relevant post about how to redirection on htaccess file.

    9. After doing redirection on old pages through htaccess file come to webmaster account on
same location from where you have downloaded these links then select all links and mark as fixed.

If you still face challenge then download all these error links and share with me. I will try to help you to come out from this problem.
