Linking patterns dilemma

Hi guys,

I need a few more heads on a dilemma on my linking strategy.

I've been doing some guest posting recently and I have two websites in the same niche (different hosting, different names, etc...)

Now if I write a post about boats and link to both of my websites from a number of guests posts, could I get in trouble with Google.

Have you ever heard, read, saw anything of the sort?

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it's not to far fetched for them to have a few rows of code that would recognize linking patterns like this.

If you link back from the host site to your sites then why it will be a problem? There is no problem in linking back just don't make link exchanges between your own sites.

As I said, I'm probably paranoid, but I was thinking that the sites linking to two websites over and over might be suspicious.

Like - Website1 links to websites B and C, then 2 links to B and C and so on...

I guess I'm the poster boy of once-bitten-twice-shy when it comes to Google.

If you do it more than once, yes, you are potentially creating an identifiable footprint that tells Google you are building links. They might be okay with that. They might not.

Personally, I would avoid doing so. It's an unnecessary risk.
