Is this specific web site beatable for Adsense?

Okay here are the numbers and keyword phrase (I know I am giving it away but I want to learn).

phrase: hugger ceiling fan

ECPC = $3.53
LSV = 18,100
Sites that show up on Google as of today: 45,000

the phrase..."hugger ceiling fans" returns 199,000 thousand though.

The number of backlinks to site #1 in Google for "hugger ceiling fan" has 34,000 backlinks but only 10 of those are external from other sites.

Is this site beatable for position #1?

Again I am looking to learn about keyword phrases for Adsense success. I am not really going to create a web site around this phrase now that I have let it out publicly (assuming it's any good).

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Carlos

I've been getting a fair bit of input on this on other threads I started if you want to do a search on my user name here. It's tough getting practical nuts and bolts input on some things. This is one of them.

I think it might be the way I word some of my thread subjects. I find that I word them more along the lines of "newbie needs help with...<whatever it is>" I get more input or at least it seems that I do.

If the threads here are not enough I've started a few others that have valuable input on some other forums whose URL's I can send you in a PM.

One can get much, much better at ranking but you have to get real good at the basics. Spending whatever time you need to do keyword research real well for starters. That is what I am focusing on right now. If you pick a red hot hot keyword in an underserved market even a newbie can do well.

      Basics real well.

You don't need a #1 listing to make money. So a better question would be if you can get on the first page.

The other question is workload. I pass up KWPs all day long that I know I can penetrate because they will take more work than I feel like doing at this time.

At quick glance, the "fans" KWP is an easier project. The "fan" KWP's top 3 are solid as far as on-page SEO go.

What do you mean J? I mean their page ranks are none, 2, and 1 based on PageRank Search - SEO Tools - Search Engine Optimization, Google Optimization.

What aspects of on-page SEO do you see as being so good on them?

If you care to elaborate that would be most helpful.

      Thanks.

    Sure.

Don't get caught up in PR too much. For starters, direct PR is different than passthrough PR. A PR 6 page could be trumped by 100 PR0 pages because that PR6 is just being passed stuff from the home page.

I like seeing at least 5-6 PR3 or less results, but that doesn't mean I then jump into a KWP. It's just a starting point. Actually, I look at PR last. First I look at on-page stuff. Then I look at the links to a result page (and so on).

    On-page SEO means:

    1. Is the KWP in the title
    2. Is the KWP in the header (h1, etc)
    3. Is the KWP in the URL
    4. Is the KWP in the description
    5. General formatting and LSI can be looked at too

At a glance those first 3 listings looked to be hitting everything.

Next, look at links and the quality of those links. While 500 links to the page is nice, if they are all from poor quality sites, unrelated sites, etc then they are worth very little, which is why getting links from top sites in your niche helps a lot.

In short, there are many factors that go into ranking. Your job is to do as many of them as you possible can.

      Thanks Jason. Much appreciated.

Incidentally how would you and others rank the following criteria in order of importance with the first one being the most important and the last one being the least important to consider in determining great keyword phrase value?

Hmm...I am going to start another thread on this...never mind.

There was a thread on this here about a week or so ago.

You might find it easier to look for KWPs that have 3 or more weak spots.

A weak spot might be this:

    1. PR of 3 or less.

    2. On-page SEO is missing or largely missing (url, description, header, title)

    3. Incoming links to that specific result page are lower, say under 50.

    4. The result is to an internal page, not a domain.

    5. Incoming links void of a serious player.

    6. I guess the icing on the cake would be younger domain (domain age can factor in, but how much is debatable).

    7. Competing pages here I guess. Honestly, I don't care. The thinking behind this is flawed to the Nth degree.

This is where tools like Market Samurai and MNF come in. At a glance, you can see more of this stuff. It really cuts down time.

Jason...would you consider a site that has 34,000 internal links but only 10 links coming in from external sites to qualify as a weakly linked site? Per your 50 link criteria?
