CTR click through and Google Console, help?

Hi,
I have a website that seems to have a few questions that i cant get my head round.
Firstly my website lists for a number of keywords in number 1 position and has done for over a year. However to my surprise when looking on Google Search Console the average position comes up dramatically lower. For example i have been number 1 on keyword "investment Leads" however the average position is 6 in the last three months? Why?
My CTR is shocking low, even when averaging 1,2 on average keyword it still only has a CTR of 2.5%? Is this normal, i would expect on impressions to have a higher CTR, should i? Do you know how to improve the CTR?
Looking forward to finding out if i am going mad or is there a way of improving this?
