Getting revenue through SEO only no paid ads

I'm looking to challenge myself and look at building maybe an e-commerce store or a website for a specific niche to gain revenue through SEO only and no paid ads. Do you guys think e-commerce would be the way to go, or something else?

    Ecommerce sites are hard if you take PPC or any other Ad campaign out of the options.

    I have been doing lead gen to the service industry and am absolutley crushing. Figured out a system where I make more than the actual company. I always suggest that route for one main reason and that buyer intention, the need to add agressive outbound to a product compared to the looking to soend money on a service that minute. Look at this way, no one searches for a plummer for fun except someone in need and other plummers. But a ridiculous amount of people looked for a fidget spinner last month withiut intention to buy.
