Are similar names a problem for SEO?

Hello SEO guru's!

I am seeking advise before i launch my brand and make a mess (hopefully not). From a SEO perspective is it a problem if the names are similar?

There is a well known cosmetic brand www.rituals.com

Lets say my cosmetic brand name is www.momentrituals.com

How will this affect SEO? Would it be more expensive for me? Seeking any help with appreciation.

    I wouldn't worry about SEO. I would be more worried about infringing on someone's trademark and them taking legal action against you.

        Even so, I still would be careful about building a business on a brand name like that. Just because they don't have a trademark today does not mean they cannot register one in the future. And then, even if your site existed before they registered the trademark, they can still come after you.

        Frankly, the name in the domain name is not a significant ranking factor. I would not waste time with it.
