No, but those pages you are redirecting will eventually no longer rank. Instead the pages you are redirecting them too will rank.

Also, any internal links on those pages that were supporting the rest of your site will be gone.

Try what? A redirect? Yes. I've redirected entire sites before.

Maybe you should explain exactly why you want to do a redirect.

When you say 'redirect' are you meaning you have links on your site that go out to other sites or are you talking about domain or sub-domain redirects?
IE someone goes to your site ]www.iLoveFidgetSpinners.com and it redirects tome to a totally different url?

I've redirected entire site before as well, but i want to only redirect one subfolder to new website.

I have a one website with 3 completely different niches and want to create 2 other website and redirect each niche subfolder to single website.

Ok if you are doing a normal link to a website you are basically giving a transference of authority to that site, you are telling the search engines 'I trust this site'. If that site is reputable then that's fine. However if the site is BAD, say it has has been classified by google as a un-trusted site, you could be dropped in the search results or de-indexed by association. If you are concerned about the sites you are linking too then use nofollow in your links.

Do you even have a reason to redirect? Don't say authority.

Are you trying to salvage followed backlinks or direct traffic?

I have similar situation. I have new site for other country with similar language and I redirect users from that country via GeoIP and htaccess to new domain. Could that make a problem to my old domain. Should I redirect them to page on old site and give them notice to visit new site. Thank you
