Hi fellow warriors,

I found some directory pages with good DA and PA, no spam score.
But they ask me to first place a backlink back in return.
Is this allowed and if so how should i do this in wordpress?

Thanks in advance!

Sure, it is allowed. But, it is mostly a waste of time, especially if you have to give a return link.

What you refer to is a reciprocal link.
If you use reciprocal links to improve your search rankings then google will frown upon that.
If you use it to only bring traffic to your site then Google are happy for you to do that.
To avoid being considered 'rank manipulation' tag your link as 'no-follow'. The link from the directory will likely be no-follow be default but check the source code to be sure.

The directory will give you a script to add a link. add a text widget to the page you want to link from and drop that code into the text widget.

It should look something like this

    <a href="http://directory.com/url" rel="nofollow">anchor text link</a>

  • I agree with the comments above. Reciprocal links do not work like it used to anymore and it can do more harm than good when it comes to ranking your website. What is worth your time and effort is to create good and valuable content on your website and outside your website- like do guest posting or post your content to social media sites. Once people realize how good your published articles are, you will gain backlinks through referrals/recommendations, mentions, and social media shares.

If the directory is free, 99% of the time it is a useless link.

If they require a link back to them, it is a useless link 100% of the time.

The worlds largest reciprocal link footprint when you look at the directory link profile.

    Forget about it.

It is called reciprocal link be careful though google is aware of such act like that exchange of links. If you are going to get a backlink from a site and in return they'll get a backlink from yours make sure it is relevant with each other.

I think nowadays reciprocal links you should forget about it... It was great many years ago, but of course experts of search engines find it out ( not too difficult )... but for that reason article submissions was getting the big attention, of course those experts acted also..

They always react a year or so later... but nowadays it isn't easy to get a good way to have links back to your site THAT our "follow"-links..
