Hi. I have several websites for cleaning services that target different area's.

I am going to 301 them all to one new site that does not have the town name in the url, but uses the brand name.

My web designer has gone awol so I need to finish the project myself.

My question is, as I don't know how to do a server side redirect (as he described it) will using the simple 301 redirect plugin work just as well?

Thanks in advance

Server side is actually the simple method.

    It's a 301.

    That is server side.

Perhaps he meant from your domain holder.

You just redirect the domain from them....most likely free. No hosting fees to pay.

I have no idea what kind of nonsense your man told you.

A 301 is server side. It's nothing but server side.

That is correct 301 redirects are server side. And there are no charges from the hosting companies for this.

Thanks, so what I mean is - If I use the simple 301 redirect plugin, is this just as effective as any other method of 301 ing my sites?

There is no need for a plugin. It is just simple code you add to the .htaccess file.
