Problems with ranking - one website is fine - another not!

I think I have a problem with my gift website.
I researched new keyword (new product) added it to one website (small, decent DA), within 2 days, I'm starting to climb up the serps. Great!
Used same keyword (product) for much large website (tweaked the description/keyword a little), after nearly 2 weeks, nothing. The large website has higher DA, more links, 10x more pages, I've 'fetched & render' in google, but the serps tool won't even pick it up.
The keyword is low competition - the first website is already on page 2
As far as I know we don't have 'no index' tags in robots file to prevent product pages ranking.
Is something wrong with my website? What can I do? Any suggestions are very welcome - thank you
