I have three campaigns running right now on adwords. I have gotten about 200 clicks and only two leads. Why is my conversion so low? The creative is good. I am giving a very clear call to action. I just dont understand why the conversion is so low. Anyone that thinks they can help please let me know. I am going to post one of the sites. The is for a mortgage campaign in the state of New Jersey. Get NJ Loans. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Thanks

You asked visitors to complete a webform and you'll get back to
them. Where is the webform on the page? I didn't see a form
to fill out right there as you asked.

      Hi sydnj,

You landing page needs a radical redesign. Here are a few things that you should consider to improve conversions.
      • Reduce the size of you logo, it's way too big
      • Remove the navigation menu
      • Switch from a two colum to a single column layout
      • Use your layout to help control the eye path so you maintain a consitant presentation to each reader.
      • Write a great headline that is consistant with your advertising message.
      • Make your headline the most prominent element.
      • Write a sub headline that draws the reader into the first paragraph.
      • Engage your readers in a conversational style.
      • Tell them the problem your offer will solve (be vey clear).
      • Tell them how you will solve their problem.
      • Tell them why they should select your offer over other options.
      • Tell them what they get (your offer) when they fill out your offer form.
      • Add a short testimonial near the offer form.
      • Add credibility symbols near the form. (guarantees, credentials, industry memberships...)

Over all I would say that your offer, as presented, is vague and therefore lacks credibility. How do I know exactly what it is that I get when I complete your offer form?

You should try a few radically different designs to see which converts better. After you have the best overall design, you should then begin testing small changes to your key elements to see if you can get additional improvements. Over a period of months you should be able to see continuous improvements through constant testing.

        I'll add ...

        why are you different?

Why should I trust you with one iota of my personal information?

Whats In It For Me? Just great rate? Cant I get that from anyone else?

How do I know you can do anything you put on that page?

Strong call to action eh? ok.

I could put up a page that says ... nifty graphic over here and ...

"Buy My Sh$t" <---- very strong call to action ...

        Who would do it?

Mortgage qualification is all new these days ... you might engage them further with a FREE Report - 7 Steps to understanding new loan underwriting requirements" How to get approved and what loan underwriters are looking for in todays turbulent Mortgage Times" or some such method to capture an email address and name - get them in a list and build a relationship.

Or is this a CPA lead form? duoh! looking at it - thats just what it looks like and why Id likely pass.

I'm not sure whether you're promoting some CPA offer.

If you promoting CPA offer.. I suggest you to
    create you own landing page..
telling the visitor and encourge them to optin.

    Use nice stories.. or review

One sale in 100 seems to be typical for many. However, I agree with Don. Your page needs a radical redesign.

The first thing that stood out was the logo. Blinding in fact. Who cares about a logo, except the business owner?

    You need a great headline.

I see Interested? Start Here on the right. Interested in what? I have yet to read what you are offering.

You've got to show why it's better with you. You know there's thousands of others out there offering loans. You've got to stand out. If you don't grab them by the bolls, you've lost them to a competitor and whatever the click cost you.

      Hi Lucid,

I agree that 1% is a typical conversion rate for affiliate marketing sales, but this appears to be a lead generation landing page. It should be at least 10%, or more, to be within a respectable conversion range for this type of offer.

I agree with what Don has said, the landing page is VERy poor, even more than the logos, forms etc, it just doesn't look credible. You need to invite people to fill out the form. I certainly wouldnt trust anyone with my zip/post code with a site that look slike that. It may be worth also putting in some credentials of who you are in the landing page.

The actual text screams the word 'desperation', its way to big and it needs to be reduced to something that most people are used to.

Sorry for the critiscms but unless these drastic changes are made I doubt you'll get any leads at all.

    Good luck!

I thank all of you. This is the reason I asked. I dont want to keep spending money on things that are not going to convert. The page is a landing page and I am using it to generate leads so it's not a cpa offer. Although I did assume that a fancier landing page with more information would convert better. There is a pretty clear call to action and we are telling you that you are on your way to getting a great rate. Is there any way some could give post a landing page that would accomplish all of this. I would like to see what I am missing. We wanted to do something different so it did not look like the typical landing page but I guess that makes more sense. My conversion rate is very low! We have developed quite a few landing pages but I guess we need to work them more. Again maybe it is just something my eye does not catch as I felt it looked good. I do appreciate all of your imput. Please save me some money... Adwords is crushing me!

        Hi Syd,

I did assume it was a lead generation page not a CPA offer.

You don't need a fancier page you just need to clarify your offer. This is not a call to action: "you are on your way to getting a great rate". That is an ambiguous, non-specific slogan. I don't mean to be cruel I'm just trying to make a point.

When you use generalized statement and include superlatives like "great rate", it lacks credibility. You need specific, quantifiable details to convey credibility. Something like: "Get a 4.62% fixed rate home loan!"

          Don,

Believe me I can take the criticism. I am spending a-lot of money and not getting the conversions. I do see what you mean but I am showing people what the daily rates are Guess I need to spell it out. Makes sense! What do you think of my website? sydfinancial.com? The bottom line is I am willing to listen and learn as I am new to this and right now feel like I am getting taken advantage of!!! Will make some changes and let you know. I guess I thought people liked to see fancy. Most landing pages I see are pretty bad. I am providing many tools on my landing pages. I will also put my clients testimonials on there and all of our accredations. It would probably also make sense to get a ssl on there? Someone mentioned the logo being to big. I will make it smaller but still want people to know that we are working with people in NJ.

          Thanks again

Start out very small. 2-5 dollars per day tops. This way you can get an idea on what works and what doesn't.

You must run a relevant campaign. Researching your market and keywords are the first thing you should do before starting. Make sure your ads are relevant....In other words if you are selling red top tennis shoes then your ad should be about "red top tennis shoes" nothing else.

Let the campaign run for at least 2 weeks before deciding to change things.

There are hundreds of ebooks, books, websites, blogs that charge for information on how to make tons of mony with adwords. But before you fork out any money I would first visit the adwords training center.

The information comes straight from the horses mouth...Just visit AdWords Learning Center This information is 100% free.

So I actually just spent sometime looking over my adwords account and all of my numebers. This is for the last two months.
                Clicks-712
                Leads- 38
                Total spent- $1661.57
                Cost per lead- $43.71
                Cost per Click-$2.33

As of right now I am converting at about 5%, I need to be at 10% I need my Cost Per Lead at about $20.00 for it to really benefit me to run an adwords campaign. I am doing this for my business. I am using the adwords leads to give to mysales agents as leads to call and close. I ran five different campaigns all with different creative. My highest conversion was to my website and then my spanish niche landing page. I had two campaings that did not even get any clicks. I am going to change the creative as I am targeting NY. Might have to get a little more sophisticated! My CTR is very low on just about all of my campaigns so that also needs to be fixed. Sorry for rambling but this has really got me down. The two markets my company specalizes in are mortgages and debt both very expensive. However each conversion could pay off very well. How can I get to 10%???
