Build site on Expired domain name?

Hi,

I've just bought an expiring domain name which had DA13 & PA22.

It has a clean backlink profile with only around 20 links pointing to it and they don't seem to look like spam.

Opensiteexplorer shows 0 spam score and showing 14 links.

It's indexed in Google for 5 pages which is also a good sign.

It's 2 years old.

I've been building sites for some time now and always used brand new domain names but it's frustrating having to wait for the domain to mature so I'm wondering if registering this kind of domain can help skip that phase and also help in ranking the articles.

The domain and previous content which was on the site over a year ago is related to my niche and content I will be publishing.

So, from my experience I would think this should help and work but as I've never used an expiring domain before I'm still unsure whether to spend my hard earned cash on content and link building on this site for it to be a dud.

Has anyone else has experience with this?

    If the domain is no longer indexed when you look for it in Google then its no different than a new domain. Google counts age from the date is was continually indexed not the age at the registrar.

      That may be true but the benefit of an expired domain is that it is easier to find great domain names from expired domains than new domains.
