So we built a new website on (example) newsite.domain.com and set a redirect anytime the domain.com is used it displays the new site on newsite.domain.com

However in Google Search Console we now see the old site (wordpress) on domain.com still showing as Crawl Errors. Since it's redirecting do we delete the old site now?

I was incorrect. I talked to the data center and a redirect was not set or used at all.

What they did was set the document root to be /home/commonwe/newsite.domain.com

      So the questions now are:

      1. Do I need to remove the domain.com property from Google Search Console and add the newsite.domain.com instead?

      2. Will google index show domain.com or newsite.domain.com after this change is made?

We dont want google to show newsite.domain.com in search results. So I am not sure what is best approach to keep domain.com in search results while still displaying the new website and then how do we set this up in Search Console?

What the frick is a data center #$%%^&ing around with a website?

Sometimes these threads are inane..." we built..." then talk about a data center. yeah. Sure.

    No matter.

You are mixing up redirects, document root, domain, and subdomain.

    Your questions make no sense.

You claim you built a site, have a data center(?), and they even changed the document root!

But these Einsteins can't do something simple, and do it correctly?

You want to use subdomain.domain.com and then don't want this to show in serps? Just domain.com?

What the frick are you smoking?
