Bing Crawl Frequency Affecting SEO

I noticed a significant drop in my target keyword ranks on Bing. Overnight, half of my keywords were no longer ranking in the top 10 or even the top 100, and I had no idea why. Then I resubmitted those URLs to Bing index for a recrawl, and within a couple hours I had my ranks back.

I had not updated the content on those pages since they were last indexed. Some of them were indexed five days ago, but within five days, they had dropped off the map entirely, out of the top 100, but just submitting them for a "recrawl" solved the problem.

This seems ridiculous. I adjusted my "crawl control" settings on Bing Webmaster tools so, hopefully, Bing will index my content more often. But I think we'll have issues when we post 100, 200, etc. more blog. That would be way more pages to index (our site is only about 100 pages), which would mean my main landing pages would take several days to recrawl, which means (according to the recent pattern), they'll be on and off the top 10.

Is there something I'm missing here? Why are my ranks falling out of the top 100 after five days of no indexing, but when I recrawl, they're back in the top 10?
