Does Google like .tv domain names?

I am getting ready to launch a new site. The content will consist of lots of videos showing people how to do a certain thing. The domain name that I was thinking of using is a search-term-phrase that is taken for the .com. However the .tv is available.

I wondering however, how Google views .tv websites. Are they indexed as quickly and easily? If I used a few backlinking strateigies will Google recognize it as being as worthy as a .com and pick up on it?

The .com that is taken is not in use. It is just a page full of links that lead to other links (not sure what those pages are called.)

Also, the name I want is also available hyphenated (name-name-name.com). Should I get this instead? I was thinking of getting both, but then I would have to decide which one to promote, the .tv or the hypenated .com?

Any advice?

      Hi jasonmorgan,

Yes, he did, however I believe he did note an exception for country codes which would be treated differently based on location. Technically .tv is a country code and it should rank well in the island nation of Tuvalu.

A funny thing I heard a while back is that the Island of Tuvalu is sinking and GoDaddy put out a warning that you shouldn't buy .tv domains because when the island disappears so will the .tv TLD. It will be interesting to see how that will play out.

        Oh geez! Sinking? LOL
I think if The Island of Tuvalu is sinking then some capitalist pirate will assuredly come along and save .tv.

Sounds like a movie (The Island of Tuvalu by Pixar).
