Hey guy's,
For one of my website I use my top keywords as my anchor texts almost every where.
My question is will it hurt my ranking or it's ok to use same anchor text every where?
Thank you!

Hi, If your using same anchor text for different keyword means no problem. otherwise your using same keyword same anchor text continuously means it can be consider as over optimized.

      Considered by who?
Why would it be over optimized?
That is why it calls "anchor" to provide consistency otherwise you're messing up end results.

That's not quite what 'anchor text' means. It is important not to use the same keywords repeatedly. You'll notice that there are variety of "types" of backlinks. You want a mixture because that is how it would occur naturally, as people decide to link to your content. Over-optimization means that too much of one technique is used. The reliance on one technique over all others is how Google catches people (or thinks they've caught people) who are trying to game the system.

It's important to try to think as though you're the average Joe Schmo who decides to write about their favorite site or article. Each person will be a little different than the last.

It's not natural. You want to mix it up. Straight URL, partial and complete text, bare, and other types.

I've not heard anything definitive from anyone. But I'd say something between 50-60% should be nofollow. That sounds like a lot but there are so many sites using nofollow these days that it's pretty realistic.

No it doesn't effect in ranking. You can use it everywhere.

That causes to drop their ranking in SERPs. Also, it looks bad to have too many links from same anchor text whether internal or external. To avoid this, try to get backlinks from mixed keywords or anchor texts. This will look natural to both Search engines and to the readers. So choose anchor text wisely. Do not use same anchor text everywhere.

Diversify anchor text and make sure that it includes primary and secondary keywords, your brand, URL and generic keywords. If you use exact match keywords in more than 60% of cases you are at high risk of being penalized by Google.

You need to mix up your anchor text. Some branded anchor, keyword anchor, naked, etc. Never just spam the same anchor text all over as that's a sure sign for google to take you down.

Likely, the repeated use of the same anchor text is the least of your problems. If all the links have the same text, it means that YOU placed the links, yourself, and there was no editorial decision being made by another website about whether they wanted to link to your site or not.

Google isn't stupid. They know that comment links, directory links, Web 2.0 links, social profile links, forum links can all be placed by someone who is not the site owner. That's why they are worthless. Links are part of their algorithm because it was meant to show that another site thought that your site was so good, THEY decided to link to it and send their site visitors away from their site to yours. Keep that in mind when you are trying to decide if something is a good or bad link - who made the decision to link to your site? If it was you, stop wasting your time.

I'll say it again (and again, and again, and again). If you can place a link yourself on a website owned by somebody else, it is almost always a very bad backlink. Using the same anchor text just makes it even more obvious and worse.

Stop trying to game the system; Google always catches up and buries your site. Instead, create something so great, other sites will WANT TO link to it. If you can't do that, I'm not sure why you even have a website.

Try to use top keywords but for everything you should have some limit. It is not good if you go too far with a certain stuffs like anchors texts in each and every corner. It can hurt your ranking but also it can improve it if you play smart.

  • if you use same keyword anchoring again and again then it will be keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is very bad for Serp.

Make use of partial match and LSI keywords in your anchors.

The original Penguin algorithm filter specifically targeted the overuse of keyword rich anchors in backlinks and I'm sure it hasn't changed since then. A natural backlink profile where other sites decided all on their own to link to your site would never all be using the same exact keyword rich anchor text. There would be some keyword links - all likely using different arrangements of the words, there would be some that were just your website name and there would be plenty that said "click here".
