Are Webmasters Turning More to Google Analytics?

Hello,

Haven't been in SEO game for a while but last time I was and discussed traffic analytics topic, I remember how everyone claimed that webmasters should avoid Google Analytics. They said it helps Google to get insight into your website which helps them to stay on top of their game against SEOs who turn to manipulative practices.

However these days I see Google Analytics as recommended tool for analyzing website traffic and conversions. What changed exactly? Why is it the most recommended analytics tool and are there tools that compare to it?

    That was always an incredibly stupid theory.

    Google penalizes websites for two reasons: the content of the site and the links pointing to a site. Google has that information whether you use Analytics or not.

    Gotta agree with Mike here. Nobody who had a clue about real SEO ever advocated that. I'm sure it was a popular theory in black hat forums, though.

    If you are worried about Google discovering something about your site that they don't already know because of Google Analytics, you better re-think what you're doing in terms of SEO.

    Exactly. Mike is right. The claim of webmaster is totally wrong. I am using Google Analytics for the past 10 years of my SEO career. My all projects are successfully ranked and I never faced any type of problem from Google. Just use White Hat SEO techniques, you will never be penalized either you use Analytics or not.

    Google analytics is the best option to track the website traffic,for a good website traffic use the relevant content and avoid duplicate content and use White Hat SEO.

    People use Google analytics because it's a great tool. A comparable tool would cost you hundreds of dollars a month.

    Google analytics is free.

    One problem with Google analytics is that it's complicated. They've made a lot of improvements in the interface which makes accessing important information easier. EG traffic over the last seven days compared to the seven days before that.

    I use multiple analytics platforms such as Mixpanel. They do different things. It also gives you a clearer picture of what's really happening on your site.

    I agree with the above comments. Google Analytics is somehow one of the best tools to track your website's status. It is free and you can track the traffic of your website with it. It can be very helpful in your strategy and in every decision you make on your site.
