You may not even need much in links to be honest. Depends how competitive your market is, but assuming you are just servicing your local market, citations should be a bigger emphasis than links.

I may have been able to help you, but apparently, you did not like my answer that I would not just sell you links.

    Hi,

you can get a listing Google if you look on this link it will show you how - and you be on Google Maps as well so that people will know where you are:

    https://www.google.com/business

If you have any articles make them SEO friendly by having a good title and keywords relevant to the title in the heading, and a few keywords within your article.

You can also upload a video to Youtube with a link to your restaurant - this will often rank very well in Google as Google owns Youtube.

    Hope this helps.

Not very good advice. I have several restaurants as clients. I have never seen a YouTube video on page one of the search results for restaurant queries, nor should a video show up. That would be kind of dumb.

If I am looking for a local Italian restaurant, I don't want to watch a video.

But links in a Youtube video will help to rank the website that they are pointing to.

I do this with most of the pages I am trying to rank on my website and it helps to get the page ranked very quickly, usually within a few minutes of posting the video - and if the competition is not too high, it will appear on the first page of Google.

That is not just misleading. I would say it is an outright lie.

You are not going to rank for anything even mildly competitive in a few minutes with a link from a YouTube video description. Besides the fact that they are nofollow links, they are also EXTREMELY weak links on a PR 0 webpage.

    Hi Mike,

I am only quoting from experiences I have had from uploading Youtube videos.

I don't gain anything from lying, in fact this technique was recommended to me a couple of years ago and it has brought me in a lot of traffic.

I don't just add a link to the video - I also write a 250 word article in the description area underneath the video and add a few keywords to it.

This not only helps me to rank videos very highly in Youtube, but also the page on my site that I had a point linking to.

    Just my experience.

If you are really ranking pages that way, it is for keywords that are not one bit competitive and that nobody is searching for.

That or you are doing other link building in addition to it but are grossly overvaluing the contribution the YouTube links are providing.

They are PR 0 links on a page with tons of other links. They are not going to rank squat on their own.

        Mike,
yes technically Youtube links are Nofollow, but that is only a guide.

They can help, if you refer to this article:

That article provides no evidence of anything actually ranking with those links. It just tells you how to create them.

I'm sorry, but there is no way you are uploading a video to YouTube, throwing a link to a page in the description, and then ranking for anything remotely competitive in just a few minutes.

Maybe if you are looking at personalized search results, sure.

Maybe have your restaurant name as your domain name if it's possible.... for me that would be the first thing.

Maybe target keywords with your restaurant specialty and your local place in it like for instance "best pizza place new York" or wherever is your location.... check if people are looking for what you are offering in your restaurant by the type of search terms they type... and target these...

Thanks for all your replies, yes my restaurant does use the same domain name as the name of restaurant.

I started a new site for my restaurant's party hall and the domain name is very relative to its location. My party hall is on woodhaven blvd, so the site's name is Woodhavenpartyhall dot com. For both the restaurant and party hall I made a bing profile, google business profile, etc. yellowpages, yelp, etc. So yea those links are easy to obtain. Now how would I be able to get my links onto high DA/PA sites? Any info on this would be quite useful, thanks!

    Hello Sammyz,

If you still need advice on how you can go about your restaurant website, I would like to suggest an approach that works extremely well for local businesses.

The most important thing that you should focus on is not your website and SEO.

Consider for a moment how you, your friends, and people around your area are looking for restaurants. Is it by looking up their websites, checking out Google Maps or maybe using Yelp to check the reviews before picking a place.

Once you identify it, I recommend focusing your first wave of attack there.

If you decide that a website it the best course for you to pursue, then focus on bringing relevant traffic to your site. By relevant, I mean local people that are in the mood for some good chow.

Consider where those people may be coming from. Is it the movies, office buildings for lunch or dinner, gym, etc. Brainstorm a little bit, then find their websites and try to get a link from them. The key to getting those local websites linking to your is to make that link more valuable to them than it is to you. Offer some discounts, free delivery, etc. I'm sure you can come up with something.

I will admit, links from local movie theaters, gyms, etc. are not going to give you a lot of ranking juice at first, but it'll give your website some referral traffic which is so much more valuable.

Local SEO goes by different rules than general/national SEO. Local business rankings benefit more from local links than blog posts or comments. If you decide to send some backlinks to your website, make sure those are quality local links coming from businesses in your area.

If you do it right and continue working on it, the traffic will come and with it, you will be ranking for local terms very well.

From my New York City based experience, however, restaurants are getting most of their traffic from Yelp, nowadays.

Although Yelp is not your property, you can do a lot with your account.

Fill it out as thoroughly as you can. I think free account allows you to upload up to 10 photos, so make sure every single one is professional looking, is nice and bright and shows good angles of the restaurant. This is your opportunity to sell your restaurant and make a good first impression so don't miss it.

Here is a little SEO trick that can get you Yelp profile ranking for keywords you want.

Every image that you upload to your Yelp account has its own unique URL. As long as you have a URL to work with, you can send backlinks to it in the same way as you would send backlinks to your website.

If you are able to, point several optimized anchor texts to each of the 10 images and your restaurant profile will start ranking for keywords you optimized for. If you need more guidance on it, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Good luck and enjoy the process.

your choice and need is quite right because now a days it necessary for a new business
Last year we analyzed 1 million Google search results.

And we found that links impacted rankings more than any other factor
And they were right. Nearly 20 years later, links are STILL the best way to determine the quality of a webpage. That's why backlinks remain Google's go-to ranking signal.

People are usually on social media, so go target that area. People love taking photos of the food or if your restaurant has a unique and pleasing ambiance. Also, encourage them to leave reviews and check in to your location. Target locally, optimize Locally.
