What are some of the best and effective ways to find the actual links of the competitors? Is it good to work on the competitor sites?

    There are tons of backlink tools out there - MOZ, Ahrefs, Majestic, SEMRush, Cognitive SEO. We have our own proprietary tool, too.

    The free versions will give you a handful of links; the paid versions can cost up to $100/month.

    There are also some free tools out there but you get what you pay for!

    In addition to above, there is nothing wrong in analyzing comp website's backlinks. In fact that should be an important part of the strategy. But the analysis is the most important part - all websites should be in relevant niche with relevant keywords - LSI, Generic, Branded - low to high competitive keywords.
