Impact of changing domain on SEO

Hi guys, I have a website with a domain name I'd like to change as the current domain has a hyphen in it (key-word.co.uk) and I've managed to acquire the domain name without the hyphen (keyword.co.uk). However, I'm not too sure what this might do to its ranking after migrating. A few facts about the SEO of the current website:
- Gets about 300 visitors a day
- 95% of the traffic is from Bing with the main keywords ranking really well on this particular search engine
- Very little traffic from Google
- No backlinks built
- Domain was purchased about 6 months ago
The new domain is more aged and it makes more sense going forward to have a domain without a hyphen in it.
Should I migrate the domain (following the correct procedure) and risk losing traffic and revenue?
The alternative is I build a new website with the new domain with similar content to the old one and concentrate my SEO efforts (building backlinks etc.) on the new website.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm still a newcomer to SEO. Thanks!
