Hello, The home page of my wordpress blog is ranking very well for a few of my keywords but the problem is that the actual post pages are not. The home page is taking all the glory from my actual post pages.

I think this may be due to the post being shown on both the home page and the actual post page, Google is looking at the home page as the authority of the two and giving it the love.

This bothers my conversions due to the fact that people are looking for information on dog training but being directed to a general dog information page. Yes, the home page does have the dog training post on it but visitors would need to scroll in order to get to that post.

I'm having this problem with a few of my keywords.

Does anyone understand my problem?
If so can you explain what I have done wrong as far as getting the actual post page to rank opposed to the home page.

You can build links to your internal pages. Do you know what hyperlinks codes are? you can mask your site over your needed keyword. This is pretty basic stuff that can help out immensely. Send me a message if you would like I may be able to help you out.

    Hey Wealthyclark,

I think the only way to improve the rankings of the post pages is to get some inbound links (authority) to the specific post pages. I'm sure the reason the posts themselves are not ranking well is because the home page is getting all the links. Try some basic link building around the specific title/keywords and see if that helps.

Your 100% wrong, I don't even build back links to my home page anymore, I understand that links to the internal pages will automatically help the home page and the links I build are very high quality. For some reason the home page still get ranked for the keywords instead of the actual post page.

The home page is ranking on page one above the fold for quit a few keywords, even beating Wikipedia for a few.
