Why Has My Traffic Dropped? - Any Ideas?

The website is https://30dayfitnesschallenge.co.uk/

Over the past couple of weeks the traffic to the website has strangely dropped. There has been not a single spammy link put into place. None of the content has majorly changed either. There has been a huge decrease in impressions on Google webmasters despite there being no crawl issues etc. So I'm a bit stuck on why this has happened.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? If so how did you overcome it?

    Hi,

Just looked and no Sitemap, this could be causing a few issues.

Have searches for your keywords go down?
    Have you lost rankings?
Has Google de-indexed any of your pages?

Google pushed through a broad core algorithmic update about a week and a half ago that caused many pages to drop (and some to rise). It was an update that centered around the content on pages and how they best matched a user's query. The best explanation of it that I have read so far is here - https://www.searchenginejournal.com/...update/242425/

Around the 22nd Jan you begun a MASSIVE spike in Backlinks. Surely this should have improved your ranks and traffic? When did the actual downturn occur?

Of course, a "massive spike in backlinks" might be a red flag - especially if they are ones that you placed, yourself.

What's your competition doing? Did you fall in the rankings for your main keywords?

Maybe your competition created better content, better SEO or did something else to jump you in the rankings. This could be the cause of your drop in traffic.

It seems that Google rolled out their second core algorithm update of the month this week that could be having adverse effects, as well. https://searchengineland.com/google-...er-week-296600

and its still ranking for that. You might have picked up longtail before and a recent algo change took this away. I'm seeing a spike in people reporting their traffic is down who haven't done anything with their site and don't have any SEO maintenance going on some times for years.

You can't just sit on a site and think its going to always keep bringing in the same traffic and money. Google makes many change every year but people are surprised when their traffic drops and think there is one thing after months or years of SEO neglect that is going to change that around fast and without significant changes to the page.

From the anchor text to the page titles this site is optimized for one major term with little keyword research or effort to pick up long tail or secondary keywords. The good news is you might have rode a wave of traffic you were not properly going after. The bad news is the gravvy train may be over
