Benefit of keywords in a subdomain

Due to hosting issues, we will be forced to move our discussion forum to a subdomain (it gets a lot of traffic).

Does it help to have keywords in the subdomain or should I make it more useful for customers.

Example:

forum.mydomain.com
vs
awesomekeyword.mydomain.com

Does this matter at all?

Thanks
Peter

A subdomain is part of a main website and is considered as a separate domain by search engines. So it is useful to have keywords in subdomain.

Of course, it's great if you have keyword in subdomain, but don't make it too long. People are afraid of clicking on a "weird" link.

  • For short keyword it could be fine, I suppose.
