How come no one talks about subtext (directly under an article title) for SEO?

By subtext, i mean the text you see in the image below:



A few questions:
  • What html code should be used for this subtext? (in the example above, the website uses the H2 tag but that seems inappropriate to me)
  • How come there is almost no SEO advice online for how to write these (or even if you should write these)?
  • Any one got any advice on whether I should implement these on my article-based website or not?

    since the most of content runs on WP, so plugin as Yoast would be fine.

    but as general, I don't completely agree with a tagline being for dramatic effect at all times, although I believe it could be like that in entertainment I do agree with the statement that a tagline serves to clarify a thought. Usually, it serves to clarify or specify the headline. A tagline is also something that's not as mandatory as the headline. A page has to have a headline, but it doesn't need to have a tagline. Especially not if the headline is clear enough in itself.

      Does Yoast provide an option to input a tagline under the headline for each blog post?

    Why not? Because it's unimportant/very weak signal from an SEO perspective. That subtext is usually just for the end-user and "clickbaity" but it's not telling the SEs anything more about the content on the page.


    H2 would certainly be inappropriate...but hey...no surprises. I'd advise for that kind of text to simply be <p> only. Not a heading.


    If it seems like your audience would appreciate a little witty sentence there below the title or H1 (depending on your structure), then sure, why not. I don't think it's as big of a deal as you might think it is.


    Focus on the title tag, meta description, H1, and the substance of the content in regard to the searcher's intent. Cross link to other relevant pages in your site as appropriate....naturally work in your main query and LSI/variations of said query....especially in your headings.



    Focus on the end user and searcher intent....really can't stress that one enough. I see too many people worked up over "keywords" nowadays and it's like they're still stuck in 2008.
