Sorry for the rant, but how is possible that a shitty article of 750 words, published on March 2018 in the following website:

It's actually ranking on position #7 for the keyword I wish to rank, while my 4500 words article, which took me days to write, and that I published on April 2017 on this repurposed domain:

never entered in the top 10 in a year and is still dancing on position 15? What's wrong with google? I have no idea what should I do, I think I've tried everything to enter the top 10 of this KW... seriously depressed right now

Hafu; how is your domain? Your entire blog? Google prefers articles posted on authority blogs. Less about writing one awesome 4500 word article and more about writing 1-2 or more quality, simple, helpful 600 word articles for the next 4 years. No 1 hit wonders on Page 1 these days Ya gotta rock it out for years to prove yourself to them.

My guess is the other site is older and bigger. You are focused on things you feel you can control - the quality of your article, links and referring domains (i.e., SEO stuff).

Before everyone tells me I'm nuts - I'm not an SEO expert. There are many things you can do to improve the chances of ranking your site....but when you begin to expect google to 'cooperate' you've fallen off the turnip truck.

Google values RESULTS rather than effort....the other site has a broader/deeper keyword 'experience' so attracts a wider audience....and the traffic numbers make it more impressive to google.

Those stats are TELLING you what google values in the competitor's site....stop whining and focus on increasing traffic to your site.

You might think that the article is shitty but you don not have the inside scoop on that website . That same website could be key word optimized, have good page load speed, more views per page ,more time spent on site than yours. What you should do is go back comb your sites home page about me page ,check your page load speed and see if it is key word optimized. Other factors to consider are your page lay i.e your theme to see if it aligns with your brand .

Google doesn't give two shits about how many words you wrote. You need to stop following clowns like Neil Patel.

Yes, they have more traffic and more social followers as far as I can see... But how do I increase my traffic I can't rank in google?

I'm sure you're one of those faithful 'do what I say' Google's followers who would jump
every time Google told you jump, religiously believing that you're going to be awarded
    for being good guy.

Well, it looks like Google care less you have jumped higher than others simply because
it doesn't give a sh*t about that. Apparently someone who wouldn't jump at all got G's
number and over-optimized SEO and cheated G. to takeaway price from you and give it
    to your competition.

If you wanna get back what you've lost, start hassle G. using every trick in SEO book.

    4500 words?

    ROTFLMAO!

That is the epitome of negative-seo for probably 90% of online queries.

Who the frick wants to read a book?

Make it an ebook or something.

may be the domain of the website has more authority than yours, the thing is that robots are in charge of positioning your website in the google search results not humans. when you see situation like this, there should be something which the website has that's better than yours in terms of SEO. instead of blaming Google you should analyze the page carefully, like keyword usage, backlinks and social media promotions.

it can also be because they've promoted their website better than yours.

i've seen other webmasters in various forums that rank pages using spun content from article spinners.

if you also use google search a lot, you'll sometimes come across unreadable content and still ranking on the first page.

before putting efforts on your website content, analyze all the pages on the first page in terms of backlinks and keywords, so that you can come up with something better.

Great advice and very true. Review your SEO again and maybe optimize it then keep an eye on your rank and see how it goes.

Why? It's just a meme, nothing aggressive. I hope it didn't offend you.

Because 99.9% of ranking problems have nothing to do with a penalty or algorithm change. The pages simply don't deserve to rank better.

Pointing to penalties and algorithm updates is what people do when they refuse to admit the truth, which is that their competitors are just flat out better.

Got it. I thought it's obvious because it was a meme. I don't want to spread false info so I removed it.
