Best places for a backlink in an article

Hi

I'm reaching out for backlinks and noticed I get the very last link in the article.

Does this have the same value as the first or second link in the article?

Thanks
Shaun J

Well It does matter If you are looking for some traffic conversion. But for a link building process its fine that you got a link. most of the Articles you publish on other sites they agree only for an author bio link. this will gives your website a backlink but the traffic never comes from there and it will be dead after some time. So always try to get a backlink in the body and at a relevent position so that user may click and Reach your website.

Try adding your link in the first paragraph of the article. Add link at relevant position with proper anchor text.

t has same value until and unless it's in body tag of the page.

Do you mean author bio section by saying "last link in the article"?
If yes, then it does not have same value.
Links in body tag has the most value. To be more precise, editorial links have the most value. In some of the websites, the author bio section is embedded in sidebar or footer of the website which passes less authority to the backlink.
Backlinks in the sidebar and the footer section are less effective than those which are placed between the content.

Hi, no by 'last link' I meant within the content bit it's the very last link in the whole article. Thanks.

Then the placement does not matter.
You just have to make sure that the link is placed in the way that makes oneself curious to open it.

I agree with Stephenchong!! It is beneficial if you put a link in the body of the article rather than an author bio link.

According to the SEO perspective, if it is a dofollow link then in rankings - YES.
But as said above, there would be less chance of post visitors will click the link in the last. Try to get backlinks from sites which has author bio section on above or side of the page.

Pro Tip: Try to point to the author bio section in between your article like a professional do.

Well if you are getting links from the last paragraph then it will be fine but if you are paying for it then try to get them from 1st or 2nd paragraph so that visitors can move from that website to yours and this will have a good impact.

But mostly the webmaster won't provide links from those links since it will increase the bounce rate of their website.

If you know about contextual linking then you should not ask this kind of questions. Use hyperlink between the content.

Best answer I have seen so far. This is a complicated subject that requires a lot of background knowledge on how the original PageRank algorithm works. Anyone saying placement doesn't matter is either saying that to make a point because you shouldn't be paying to place links in certain spots according to the webmaster guidelines, or they don't really know what they are talking about.

-Placing links higher up on the page absolutely does pass more PR
-Links from pages with lower OBLs pass more PageRank

These are facts you can test against the current algorithm and verify their outcome rather easily. But you can also be dangerous with this knowledge so read more on AHREFS and other reputable sources before you take advice from someone who may or may not really know SEO well. Link diversity is key.

Adding a backlink in the first paragraph is always beneficial as the chances of getting clicks on the link increases. Just we have to make sure that the anchor text taken for the backlink goes with the flow of the content.
You can also take backlinks in remaining content of the body, author bio and images(for products).

Yeah it's right... making backlink with the flow content is always beneficent and it shows genuine need of hyperlink.

Better approach Shaun; build bonds by helping bloggers. Then, you get quality links on organic blogs because believe you me, if bloggers simply give you links after you reach out and ask, these are not quality links LOL. Gotta earn those buddy by building bonds and earning the trust of top bloggers.

Well body links are the best for getting users attention and traffic from others website. Author bio links are just for adding a backlink to the website that is not passing any traffic to your domain. As no body is interested in knowing about the Author.

I recommend that the link be placed in the first paragraph if you want to get traffic from it. The understanding is simple; people don't have time to read through the entire article. So getting the link in the first paragraph gives you a head start.

Yes, It matters. For ideal traffic and ranking purpose, you must have one backlink in the first paragraph of an article and It makes an article ideal. Links in 1st and 2nd paragraph increases the bounce rate.

Been away from this forum for a while.

Not really any good advice that I can see here...

So imagine having 100 links in the first 100 words of each article, does that look natural?

Spread the links out, top middle and bottom. Get some no-follow links too.

The more outgoing links in that article the less authority its going to pass. 2-3 outgoing links yes fine... 5-10 out going links no thanks.

For starters its good you got a backlink, now it'll be better if it's on first or second para of article apart from it the anchor text should be relevant otherwise it will only increase your bounce-rate not only that but is that backlink is dofollow or nofollow, it'll be much better if its dofollow link because you'll get SEO value of that website otherwise nofollow link is also not bad

Usually, an article should contain 3 to 4 backlinks first should be in the first or second paragraph second should be in the middle of the article and then, at last, there should be a paragraph ending like to know more xyz.com (third link) and fourth link should be in the source of the article.

The position (whether at the top of bottom) doesn't really matter. However, you should make sure that your link is placed in relevant content, and that the article on which it is placed does not contain too many outbound links.
